Immigration documents reveal South Sydney's English import, Sam Burgess, will be paid just over $1 million over four years, despite being regarded as one of the world's best players.

I don't think so! Bradford were originally looking for a transfer payment of PDS 1 million and final talks were settling around PDS 600k. To now claim it was PDS 120,000 is a fairytale. Not that a transfer fee is counted in the cap according to the NRL. Then take a player capable of earning a fortune in the English Super League and these figures just do not add up.

How much do first class tickets cost from England for a family of 3-4 (mother and 2 bros i think it is).??

What stops crowe and the likes from not paying his mother directly in the UK?! Actually what stops any team from giving there players Credit Cards for some BS company in china?!

Thinking about it, the storm must have been really really to get caught at all with so many under handed methods that are litually better than cash.

May be a naive view, but this bloke seems a genuinely good bloke, and maybe isn't just in league for the money. Only 21, wanting to test himself in the toughest comp in the world, maybe for 5-6 years, and then he could still go back home and play 7-8 years on massive coin and still be set for life

Sounds like the 6 foot glamorous blond who likes fetching beers for the boys while they watch football, and with a father who owns a boutique brewery. Doesn't exist, unless you're Lachlan Murdoch.

And how many Robin Hood movies does the world need before it's enough? Crowe's carer trajectory is starting to eerily resemble Kevin Costner - we just await Waterworld to read the last rites.

Manly wanted to sign Burgess however the price he was asking was absolutely ridiculous.
Burgess would have been our highest paid player at the club.
Worth it?
I don't think so.
So what did he go to Souths for then? Surely not their facilities and record of success.
Neither were on the relatively parlous Burgess salary post 1995.
