THIS is the $150 million makeover that could knock out Melbourne and ensure Sydney wins the fight to be Australia's nominated host for soccer's World Cup final.

Seeing that stadium australia is basically insolvent I assume that the governments will be putting up the money for this.

$150m would improve a lot of surburban grounds and be a better use of the money than spending it on a white elephant for one game.

It never ceases to amaze me where politicians spend our money. Grandiose fantasies like this crap. 400 million for the Campbelltown bogans? It all sounds like a Rothfield beat up.

So where are AFL's Western Sydney Bogans going to play? The SCG?

The stupid place should have been made rectangular immediately after the Olympics when they reconfigured it. Anything spent on it now is a politician's folly and a staggering waste of money through lack of nous and foresight.

Yokohama Stadium, which held the final when the WC was in Japan has a running track around the outside of the field. The field area would have to be similar size to Stadium Australia at the moment, it only holds 70,000 people though.
