New Bears "Docu whinge tary"

I've never truly liked the Bears and I still don't, they whinged and bitched about being screwed over by Manly but in truth, they created their own destiny. They're just another mob who joined the conga line of Manly bashing. I'm thoroughly sick of seeing our club and our players used as punching bags to gloss over other clubs inadequacies...No love lost from me.

Norths were never as popular here on the coast as they made out.
They muscled in on the juniors and did everything there own way pretty much ignoring the local leagues authority.
And in reality provided very little return.
It's a point still remembered up here bar a few hundred who've tried to make some noise, albeit, spasmodically.

They had Singo, and the local media...that was about it.

Well, I'm going to stick up for the 'Grizzlies'. Norths were always my second team. I lived much of my life on the Lower North Shore and used to go to North Sydney Oval at half time and watch the second half for free as they would throw the gates open. Following Norths was not difficult because expectations were so low. You never expected a win so you weren't that disappointed with a loss . . . unfortunately that is what it's like this season for Manly, who have always been my team.
Norths did get shafted by the League. So I'll be interested if this doco does shed light on some underhand tactics by the League. The plan to align with the Central Coast and play at the revamped Grahame Park seemed to have merit, but construction delays meant they missed a League deadline. Had Norths been able to tap into the junior talent and spectator support on the Central Coast they would have been very competitive.
It surprised me that the Northern Eagles were so unsuccessful. Manly-Norths had so many good players 'on paper' that it's obvious their hearts weren't in it.
Two things Norths have that Manly need are:
1. A successful Leagues Club to pump money into the club, and
2. North Sydney Oval which at least gets money spent on it by the Council.

I like your thinking there mate, but North Sydney don't get any sympathy from me. As far as I have known of the Bears its all been whinge whinge whinge about big bad Manly. Boo bloody hoo.

I’ve got one of those , and yes was at the game!!
I had one of the original t-shirts. Bought from Manly Leagues.

I’m pretty sure (the t-shirt, not the LC) has gone to that great recycling bin in the sky.

I don’t hate Norths, I would prefer it if they were still in the comp playing out of Gosford. It might have sharpened a few lazy minds and massive egos around our club, on the surest ways to survive. Not just fall back on the old ‘we’re the only club between the Bridge and Newcastle’ mantra. Only to take a half-hearted, visionless approach to the advantages gifted to it.

And never forget it was Norths who graciously voted to allow Manly-Warringah to join the comp from 1947 onwards; knowing full well the impact of losing their most promising growth area (to the new club) would have on their fortunes.

Their then CEO Mark Cannon never wanted this to work. Remember, he even designed a jersey and someone said to him, do the others like the jersey and he said, I dont care if they do or not,This will be our Jersey. He undermined the merger right from the get go, and he wasn't even a Norths junior. He came from the Dragons

I've tried to be even handed and sympathetic regarding the Bears on ROAR, even pushing for a Central Coast team. But their supporters are so vitriolic and hateful of the Sea Eagles, despite our attempts at trying to show them logically it was the SuperLeague to that destroyed them, that I wont waste my time trying to put a positive slant on their situation. Their fans on the net and media have lost all sense of reality and balance. They want the Sea Eagles dead more than the Bears returned. Bunch of immature vengeance seekers. If the owners of Sea Eagles ever try to sell off to that bunch, we as a group should seek them out and p..ss on them from a great height I supported the concept of the Northern Eagles...thought it was a good idea. No longer would I want to be associated with those turkeys.
