Negative kicks ??

Not 1 to support commentators claims as they basically all hate Manly.
But on the attack, behind on the board and grubber kicks to the sideline?
Also the option to kick for goal when up by 6 and ref has threatened 1 more penalty and a player is sent for 10 mins.
The Manly with a positive attitude would put foot on throat and beat the heck out of them.

The only thing I can think of is that we are so unfit we need a breather before each set of defence. It would also explain the lack of line speed and wrestle.

I think the drama this week and last week against the Cows is that Cherry finds himself consistently 40m out on the last tackle and can't do anything else other than go for touch for bomb midfield.

We are unable to make sufficient yardage in our sets of six.

Terrible option from a good position, giving us zero chance to put pressure on the opponents. But it's been happening all season so I can only assume it's part of a game plan. (And I can only assume we actually have a game plan. No obvious signs of one, sure, but all teams are supposed to have one, so…)

I think the drama this week and last week against the Cows is that Cherry finds himself consistently 40m out on the last tackle and can't do anything else other than go for touch for bomb midfield.

On field kicking position certainly has not been an issue in today's game imo. We have been in pretty good position.
And I am ok with the bombs, if they are not limp lollipops, with a limp chase.

I’ve never seen Manly with such poor defensive structure. No line speed, always one on one with the opponent and we don’t like using our shoulders. An absolute disgrace how bad this team is. If we were playing hard and making errors or something I could be happy enough, but this one out hit up safe football is just trying not to get flogged and even that’s not working!

Gotta be honest mate - watching Manly over 30 years and win/lose/draw you get a team that has a go and plays to score points....I feel numb watching this team atm.

Im not big noting myself but I can kick a footy. I played colts for wynnum manly and thats a close you get to qld cup/nrl as humanly possible as a kid.

This **** that gettign dished up in terms of kicks for our club boarder on the stuff you're coached not to do.

How can a guy paid 1million+ not get teh ****ing idea?

Been backing Barrett out of loyalty and hate chasing off blokes trying who simply do their best who are not up to the plate, but it’s getting punishing....your not far off ....at all

Maybe this due to getting to the last tackle so many times we have run out of options. Extremely low error rate today meant we had to do something on the last every few minutes.

Manly's completition rate was surprisingly great tonight which shows how bad our attacking structure is to only score 14 points !! Something needs to change cherry is taking the piss he doesn't care he knows his safe and getting paid no matter what the result

What a load of sh1t... the problem is, that when we are 40metres out, DCE is unable to put a BIG kick up like every other decent half in the game. The bombs he puts up are nowhere near high enough and he hasn’t bothered to develop a spiral floating kick like all the good halves in the game. Basically, he has stagnated while players like Reynolds etc have progressed. It’s as if Cherry is just relying on his running game, unfortunately that has regressed as well. His kicking tonight wasn’t even A grade standard. Certainly, some of the halves in the local A grade teams around Newcastle and Penrith would have applied more pressure than Cherry did tonight.
