fwiw no mention of Turbo or Paseka injuries, or anything really .. it's all just about DCE, what the! And he hasn't been the standout player, I'd say Lehi and Haumole
SEA EAGLES
Ladder: 7th (6 wins, 6 losses)
Grade: B
Season so far: The Sea Eagles are doing well to sit inside the top eight at the halfway point considering their skipper almost blew up their season after just three rounds. Daly Cherry-Evans declared he wouldn’t be re-signing with Manly, who he has played for since 2011, but that was open to continuing his NRL career at a rival club. Why DCE couldn’t have announced that in October is anybody’s guess. The Sea Eagles won the week of the bombshell but then lost six of their next eight. They returned to winning ways with a thumping 34-6 win over Brisbane last weekend and now they need to string a few together.
Standout player: Cherry-Evans has been okay this season without setting the world on fire. The 36-year-old Queensland halfback’s form dropped off leading up to Origin but he bounced back against the Broncos last week. DCE was the highest-placed Manly player on the Dally M leaderboard before voting went behind closed doors after Round 12.
Where’s it gone wrong: There is no doubt Cherry-Evans’ announcement impacted the team and their results, which was to be expected. When a 300-game, one-club premiership-winning captain tells his teammates he no longer wants to play with them, well that’s always going to impact team harmony.
