Decent analyst of the game and fair enough, but what does excite me more, is if he is orientated to wanting to see Manly improve as a squad and not just take his pay cheque to do a job, he has plenty of good contacts with many current players and maybe can help lure some top shelf players for the long term.

I think the first thing to do is consider it's a coaching role. To often a response with this guy on here seems to involve peeps not loving him as a player. Or as a commentator in the media. Lol.

He's had minor coaching roles at the Raiders and the eels. So it's not his first rodeo, coaching wise so that's a first tick.

I've believe he has a part-time role working with our halves and hooker as more of a specialist positional coach who will work closely with our attacking assistant. We didn't have a specialist halves or hooker specific coach last year. So I'll add another tick.

We lost Flannigan as our attacking coach, is his role to continue what Flannigan may have started? He won a premiership at hooker with Flannigan so no doubt knows his ideas and concepts. But I'm sure Ennis will add his own as well. But he's worked closely with our outgoing attack coach is a tick.

I just look at Snake and how his knowledge and experience of being arguably the best no 1 has helped turbo similarly be spoken about in such arguments when he's fit.

Ennis as a former Premiership winning hooker who's played the game for years, I have no doubt he has knowledge to impart and can only make that 9,6,7 work better.

I don't think we should forget that Croker was given the keys to our 9 spot by DES. As a NRL 9 Croker has been coached by 2 blokes DES the control freak, his way or the highway and Flannigan in attack.

DES is known for coaching a style of 9. That defensive passer, think Ballin who hardly ran. And Croker largely confirms to that style.

I know it has been suggested that Licha may have been an awesome running hooker before DES bashed it out of his game at the dogs. Never seen it myself.

That Ennis played under both those last two coaches who have had a big part in how our current 9 plays in recent years. Thats is a massive tick

Of all the hookers at the dogs who seemed to excel under DES it's Ennis. Even Cook only really took off once he left the dogs. Another Tick.

He won a comp with Flannigan. He will know what Flannigan was pushing in attack. Tick.

He seems very well positioned for the job.

Now he just has to get all of our 6,7 and 9 playing like he did as a player. All being that Niggling little prick, pushing buttons, distracting players from their assignment on the field with and without the ball and win us a premiership and he can get another tick;-)

Yeah if I remember correctly I think he might have played a big part in getting Hodgson to the Eels once the dogs stole their hooker.

That didn't really work out for the Eels, but can't really blame Ennis for that, Hodgson was a very good player in his time, just never seemed to return anything like the player he once was from his last big injury at the raiders.

I like the appointment. I don't mind him as a commentator and think he offers some good insights. As a player he was largely hated by opposition fans. If you're hated by the opposition and their fans, it usually means you're doing something right.

There is No one like him in our coaching staff or club
Ennis is Excessive and Extreme

He is over the top as a commentator and was over the top competitor and premiership Winner

I like what he brings

Ennis and Manly have one great thing in common
They both love to be hated

I like the fact he will be able to put his stamp on Gordo, and also the missing rug man who has had the benefit of being mentored by Danny Buderus while at the Knights. Ennis will have his work cut out for him, but I think that’s how he likes it. The busier the better.
Gotta admit, it’s going to be funny listening to him on Fox trying to be impartial after the years of Manly whippings he gave us. ( Although some were definitely warranted).

I wonder if there is an arrangement where he either (a) doesn’t call Manly games due to perceived bias or (b) is required on game day and thus can’t anyway?

If he does call our games, I hope it means he will lay off us a bit.

Not sure game day is an issue for him as from what I’ve heard is that he’s only there a couple of days a week
