Meehan - sink or swim

Not sure about Meehan, but I suspect its the same as Hopoate. Jamil apparently has a number of tasks including counselling etc that he has been instructed to meet before he can be declared a good boy again and be welcomed back to the fold

I'm probably being overly optimistic but if Lane, Sironen, Hopoate and Meehan all click we could be the dark horse of next years comp.
Try not to laugh....stranger things have happened !

I agree with Greg. We need a good centre. I've a feeling with a fair run of injuries that 5-10 position is on the cards. However a horrible year and we'll be back near the bottom. A great year, yes, we could give the top four a bit of a shake. Cant see us winning it though, but miracles sometimes happen. Of course if Brett Stewart remarkably comes back with at least some of his speed (highly unlikely but we can hope), TT at centre looks a great combination

I know what I said was a bit out there but consider that the two Turbos are going to be vastly improved, add Green to 5/8, DCE playing without injury and Walker back in his favourite position. Throw in a bit of luck and some enthusiasm from some of the newer blokes and you just never know.
I know all of the above happening is very unlikely, it's just nice to dream that you have a chance sometimes.

I think he will start in the kiddy pool but some good form in the trials and early on will have him on the bench in no time.

I can't see him mucking up with his dad on our payroll as head of team security and a regular trainer..
His dad can still throw down and I'm sure the constant reminder of 'dads discipline' should keep him in check to focus on footy :praying:
Mate if I had a son that was 6'5' and 130 kgs and had 3 KOs to his name .....I wouldn't be telling him to do anything!!

I think if Meehan can get all the off field stuff sorted and concentrate on footy then he is by far our most exciting prospect. He is big, aggressive, mobile and has a good motor. He has a huge pedigree having debuted as a forward in the NRL at 18 which is extremely rare. He played Junior kangas, was NYC team of year. Far more excited about his potential for us than Lane, Sironen or Hoppa.

There is no doubt that these lads have endless potential and all could be anything...

The biggest question and doubt for me is...do we have the coach to harness it?

Time will tell but Trent is starting from a long way back in my assumptions.

Still, in my very humble opinion , short an experienced hard head forward ( Matagi would have been perfect) and a reasonable centre ( assuming the pundits are correct and Skivvy won't play).

Having to rely on players who have had a few, or zero NRL games experience in key positions will cost us.

Great to give one a go and build experience slowly but thrust huge responsibility on them from the get go is " mostly" set for a fail.

From reading the tele today regarding 250 top players coming off contract at the end of 2017 ... and all of them waiting to learn the new cap ... our lack of committing to signing just good players (none of those we missed are world beaters) may be part of a plan to strike at the end of next year when the talent pool is larger and Snake and Matai will definitely be gone.

If so, Bozo and Baz are being very calculated and smart.

In 2005 The Tigers rookie team won the grand final . If your good enough and have the ability experience in the NRL will not matter .

Still have my eyes on Jack Bird 2018
