Was just watching fox and they replayed the Wolfman's try saver against penrith a few years ago when he cut a player down who looked certain to score. Sporting a pink beard and all !!
My all-time favourite is Igor Randall pulverising Dallas Donnelly in the final in 78.
But wether it's Tooves sitting the chief on his a*se or some of skivvies bell ringers, we have produced some great tackles.

I remember a tackle Bruce Walker performed on one of Newtown's frontrowers at Brookvale in 1981. I think it was Steve Bowden, who slowly got up and said something to Goldie. I'd love to know what! From memory he sat Bowden on his backside, hard.

We lost that game too. But that tackle was a highlight.

Toovey on meninga 1994 in Canberra. Meninga running the short side and runs smack bang into tooves . toovey drives into him and lifts him into touch. Awesome strength for a little fella.

And they only ever attacked in numbers.
Randall sorted it on his pat Malone.
And Steve knight's coat hanger was alright too.

Wombat hit Steve Rogers in the middle of the SCG in the 78 GF in a tackle that was plain murderous.
Sludge got up eventually, but I doubt he had ever been hit that hard in his whole career.
I wish I had the skills to put it up to see.

The Igor tackle sent out a message in that game that Manly were not going to messed with, remember Igor had 6 pain killing injections just to play that game and the courage that he and the team showed were a big reason why the 78 team will always have a special place in mine and many peoples hearts.

I remember Dan Stains from the sharks resenting a tackle from Huamono and carrying on with it .
Huamono was trying to walk away but had had enough and began giving it to Stains Big time.


Ridge was one player who joined the fray ( to stop Stains getting killed )

Lol yes Forty I remember that.
At Leichhardt.
And sweat stains was a karate expert.
How funny was it...

The one on O'Reilly? Probably at the SSG in 1978. The Bear was so disorientated he got up and played the ball facing his own tryline.

With so many renowned defenders in Manly's history , a tough call and especially with igor , and cement and Ian Roberts , and Matai to take into account .However my most memorable tackle was also Wombat Eadie"s 1978 G F effort on Steve Rogers, just a classic tackle in every way
