Game Day: Manly v Warriors [Round 13, 2020]

Have to say, I find it strange that we get 3 repeat sets against us and off side penalty in first 5 mins, yet when we were attacking the line with 5 to go Warriors were rushing up way before the hooker touched the ball. It's why we lacked options, just as DCE and Cust were receiving the ball warriors players already up in their faces. It was blatantly obvious

Jurbo has lost how to play footy. Thinks he’s a prop. Offers nothing in attack anymore which has been a shame to watch.

He is turning into Josh Jackson from the Dogs.

I cant stand watching him play this way. His creativity is basically gone these days, looks as slow as a weekend in Canberra, and is used as battering ram in attack.

I’ve heard some crazy ideas but this one takes the cake.DCE’s defence,whilst one of the better halves,isn’t as good as it used to be as he’s aged,which is very common with halves that were very good defenders in their earlier days.In fact he spends a bit of time early in sets on the wing.Just a point of reference,Taumalolo plays lock for the Cowboys

Here's my problem

Its evident our backline is well and truly useless.. from 1 to 5 they are either garbage or average at best..
But in 2 or 3 weeks, Tom will come back, set up a ton of trys for these guys and they will all be running around again next year..

Maybe Tom needs to sit this season out.. we can lose 90% of the games for the rest of the year, see all these guys absolute ineptness on full display so next year maybe the younger guys will actually get a shot... that's if they haven't bailed to another club that will give them a chance

Back from Brookie, what a crap night! Losing both AFB and Marty topped it right off.

Marty's knock-out in front of me was sickening, and the turning point. Best part was being under cover, luckily.

Disappointingly, there goes top 8 in 2020

Wasn’t just the last 5 minutes.
Their linespeed was good from the get go but all night it seemed like we were back 15m and they were back 5m.
It was magnified by Levi always stepping forward before passing too.

When Blocker calls it a send off ( and he admits he’s a fan of that Warriors player) then we don’t know what is anymore.
A sin bin for that = a sin bin for a professional foul to break up play just doesn’t compute to me.

Time to realise we aren't there this year. Time to experiment. Get Schuster, Hopa, Burbo, Metcalfe, Anderson, Titmuss etc out there at least for a number of games and let them feel first grade so they will be prepared for 2021. Just may slip us into the 8

If he switched to lock ever, of course they would bulk him up and turn him into a tackling machine.
That’s how poor old Toovey spent his last years, blunted and busted playing hooker.
DCE needs to aim up on the big plays, because he sure ain’t doing it this year

Manly look defeated.
Playing safe when we can’t afford to.

Elliot is safe. His restarts from a kick kill momentum. I think most supporters would like the to see someone else take this pos to at least add something.

Tafua has had his day. The game has past his best performance. Always out of position. Aerial ball always questionable.

Funa showed he needs more time in centre. Has a lot of improvement. Defensively made some good decisions.

Suli did what was expected. Needs more early ball.

Garrick is losing me. Offers nothing other than speed out wide which is questionable.

Cust needs to play 6 more often. Has potential to be great.

DCE doing enough. Just.

AFB great.

Levi is a backup hooker. Nothing more.

Taupau doesn’t offer enough for the coin he’s on.

Olakau’atu was fantastic. Needs more game time.

Waddell is a backup at best.

Jurbo has lost how to play footy. Thinks he’s a prop. Offers nothing in attack anymore which has been a shame to watch.

Croker shouldn’t be playing first grade. If effort was the prerequisite I would be playing.

Keppie needs more involvement. Capable of so much more. Seems to lack some leadership.

Boyle was good. Needs more bench time.

Paseka growing into the role but would benefit from more edge play. Frustrating to watch a wrecking ball play into the defence time and time again.



Manly needs more options in attack.
Cust offers this and must stay in the 6. Levi would be great off the bench and would love to see someone else get some game time. Elliot is safe. If we were safely in the 8, he would be the perfect choice but we aren’t and we need attacking options.

Lots to fix. Need Des to make some brave choices to save a season that had so much potential.

There is a position for him,it’s half back.But his issues are not related to the number on his back,it’s his willingness to take the game by the scruff of the neck and make the right decisions,like the likes of Cronk and Thurston used to do.He was pretty good tonight but he’s not helped by the chopping and changing of the side due to injuries or head scratching team selections

The problem with stats is they Don’t tell the full story , the 3 in the first half against us were in the first 15 minutes and at 16-0 we were dusted !!

The ones we got didn’t matter.
