Those statistics about 'hit-ups' are rubbish. Unless, of course, I don't know what a 'hit-up is.
My belief is that it it a player who takes the ball from a dummy half and gets tackled with the ball.
Is that correct, or not?
Because if it is how come Walker, Kelly and Uate are not credited with any 'hit-ups'?
Frankly, the word 'hit-up' was invented for bulldozers like Gallen who doesn't know how to pass. They are a useless stat imo.

I couldn't believe that the Big C was saying 'it's the same offense that you had at Brookie'

And as they said about it in commentary, that shows that the refs go into games with pre-conceived ideas about how certain teams play. Its not objective.

And that ladies and gentlemen shows that referees can have a bigger impact on the outcome of a game than the players.

jeez Checcin did his level best to give them a leg up and put us to death, thankfully it didn't work and he had to concede defeat. It's pretty bad to be honest and looks to me a lot like it is deliberate by him, I wonder if the NRL will fine me $10,000 for saying he is a bad referee and doesnt seem to have the capacity to ref without his own frustration and emotion getting in the way of his decision making

Ash Taylor is an idiot, still going after Jacko after the bell FFS

Chez > Ash + LG

The telecast just cut out when I saw ash starting to push hastings after the siren.

Did anything happen further?

Or did it fade away?

Just watching a replay of the game on YouTube and even with Api's try, despite Cecchin being directly in front of it and having a perfect view, he still sent it to the bunker as a no-try. Sometimes I think referees do actually try to influence by what they call when they send it to the bunker. That try and Wright's conversion took us to an 18-6 lead after 25 minutes (just before Winterstein got sin-binned and he actually got the wrong player, if anyone it should have been Kelly) and his call of no try on Api was IMO clearly trying to keep the Tits in the game.

And when DCE got the "its happened at Brookie" line as Cecchin's explanation.....it shows that referees clearly have a tip sheet about what certain teams do. They don't go into games objectively (which is what I think DCE said to him in the second half that caused him to blow a penalty).

You would think Checcin of all people would not be in favour of the persecution by people in power over those powerless to stop it.

So the reason he keeps trying to dud Manly is a weird one.

DCE is better than me. I wouldn't even shake Checcin's hand after the game but they shook each others hand, gave a manly nod, had a few words...very professional.

So about 20 mins into the game, the recording stopped. The screen went back to 'thank you for subscribing to sportsnet world, please tune in later for more games. That was it, the game didn't come on again and wont be replayed.

Now you add this frustration to the fact that the nrl blocks live stream from Canada (because we get sportsnet world) and what are you left with? To see the game you have to find it somewhere dodgy!

Luckily that guy who puts full games up on youtube had already done so! So eventually, all went well.

Who was singing this at the game? [Happy and you know it.]

You wanted DCE but he's ours.
You wanted DCE but he's ours.
The Gold Coast's full of pricks,
That's why he gave you the flick.
You wanted DCE but he's ours.

edit: Ok no one did, but I made it up and thought I'd put it here.

Yeah it was pretty blatant to be honest. I hate getting on the refs suck bandwagon mainly because I know what its like to make decisions consistently on the fly, but its clear the decisions aren't made with equal measures. You can't let your emotion or mood get in the way of those decisions, I dont think that Checcin is capable of doing that.

Bruv I was in build a bear oberhausen because my daughter has wanted to go to Build a bear since the moment she was able to say build a bear and there isnt one in the Netherlands...and its her birthday on Monday so this was her present.

So I missed the game, stayed on radio silence until I got home at 5PM (game started at 9:30am), then I went to watch it......livestream wouldnt play it via kodi, the livestream app or the browser on either TV. So I flicked over the laptop and there it worked and thats where I had to watch it on a tiny screen, but worth it and I guess I focussed more, at least I didnt watch the game standing up and pacing like i usually do

Bill Harrigan has said that ref's (including himself) go into games with player's reputations firmly in their minds. Which is why , say Watmough never got the benefit of the doubt.

Jake had a great game, as did DCE. There was one time when we started a set on our line and before the ball was played Api was yelling at the players to put in a big effort, etc. It was god to see.

I wonder if Blake Green was right to go. It's the worst kicking display by him I've seen. He certainly looked out of sync.

Anyone know the rule about why the titan player was allowed to play despite not being named??

The commentators said the Titans may get a fine...but how does that help us if we lost? It seemed a total rort (like the refereeing.)

edit: Happy for the win, really liked the presser.

im more concerned about two other things

1 a player passing off the ground and not being penalized and every ball that falls is a knock on

I am pretty sure that these refs all spent too many years reffing oz tag and touch

Taylor comes to Jacko in the post match greeting, with the Big C right behind him and as he shakes Jacko's hand he says something 'smart' -

Taylor then puts his forehead onto Jacko's (he is just slightly less crazy and doesn't headbutt)
Capture1.JPG

then he and Jacko both shove each other away,
Capture2.JPG

Jacko continues to say something ('Look at the scoreboard' or some other fact":p)
Taylor steps back in and shoves him again, by this time Siro strides up and grabs him,

Then the Big C turns and has a go at Siro (as he is the one in the Manly jersey, so must be guilty:rolleyes:),
then finally the Big C realizes that it's Taylor who is still agitating verbally,

Hayne steps up and tries to pull Taylor off Siro's shirt front,
but Taylor keeps shoving Siro,

then the Big C and Hayne implore Siro to let the little **** go

then Fox cut away, so we can only assume that 'Rugby League's the winner'

this sounded like lady porn, or 50 shades for grey

It reminds me of that day at Kogarah in 1993 when we lost 21-20 on a late Noel Goldthorpe field goal. Eddie Ward lost it that day, even Arthur Beetson and Warren Boland on the ABC said that he was getting way to emotional. I remember at one point late in the game he gave Saints a penalty and literally screamed at Tooves.

Unless its an injury forced change (e.g. Uate before the St Merge game), coaches can not change their run on side or bench within an hour of the scheduled kick off. Henry may well have intended to start Morgan Boyle in place of Leivaha Pulu, but someone forgot to inform the officials.

When I interviewed for my current role it was made very clear to me that "you will make hard decisions every day and you wont want to make any of those decisions."

As such I feel I am somewhat qualified to understand what it means to make touch decisions consistently on the fly, I do that for a 1.5 billion dollar product, they do that for a little game.

I take emotion out of my choices, they should do the same and they clearly do not. The first thing that needs to happen is that they have to go back to one referee that will make more happen on the fly.
