Match Stats

Jeez how many of you were actually at the game - from my vantage point it appeared half of our defensive issues came from Koula swinging half of the retreating defenders onto the wrong side. His positioning and decision-making were insipid. Half of the line breaks came from an incorrect setting of numbers.

Having watched Turbo and Hopoate from similar vantage points earlier in the year, it's night and day between those two and Koula. Hopoate or Turbo at fullback, we win that game on defence alone. Our other issues stemmed from these.
I was at the game and from my vantage point,Koula had nothing to do with poor decision making and missed one on one tackles. One can only suggest that once the Dogs lost last night, the team became a bit, maybe not as committed, given they wouldn’t have to head to NQ

The lack of Turbo was obvious in both attack and defense. We will be much better with him playing.

True but our attack looked quite impotent.

Agreed with that but geezus how many times is DCE going to continue to run up out of the line and just leave outside defenders outnumbered.

Can’t see him changing now. He’s also started a poor habit of trying to do a lazy ankle tap when he’s beaten instead of diving. Guess he’s getting too old.

Apart from the lack of possession and poor tackling... Most of the backline didn't really make many metres with the ball until it was much too late. Sharks' back line all ran over 110 metres by comparison.

That's the difference Tom and to a lesser extent Saab makes.

Well I’ve been slurping wines in the Swan Valley , just to the east of Perth.

Ended up at a German Beerhouse for lunch , a pork knuckle ( giant one ) and the typical German fare in the middle of the table between the 4 of us old farts there, we are all pretty full.

Ended up drinking some German pilsner served to us by a beautiful young German lass ( backpacker ) , very low cut top and the pork knuckle wasn’t the only thing that was giant.

My fishing mate & I had to get one of the wives to drive home.

Oh and yes there was a footy game , I did follow the scores until half time and guessed it would become a rout.

Rocks & diamonds , that’s the issue with this team although as @LeonardCohen has stated , we simply won’t win every game and against the better sides we probably won’t be good enough.

But we’ve made the finals , so that’s a decent improvement on 2023.

And who knows we might even had a win to get to week 2.

Anything is possible.

Well that was an expensive and dissapointing trip from WA..
We looked tired and lethargic particularly the backs who appeared to be in slow mo when attacking and defence yikes... We were outplayed across the park. Out enthused and out muscled.
Koula at rhe back is an issue, hopefully Turbo back next week,if nay can we please have Hoppa. I agree with @Phobia he kept sending the reads the wrong way and then failed to have urgency to clean up.

Still we made it it to Brookie, be the last live game for us this year but will be glued to the finals tvs as a family and be back with bells on next year. That's all we can do.....

Yes, last week you were generally confident that inside M-W’s 20-30m, Manly could hold out the opposition.

This week, not so much

Every time we play ****e I get about 10 of these, like 2 an hour

The Swan Valley brewery was “ Duckstein “ , I even bought four of their beers for another day.

Pity about your trip East , but regardless it’s great fun being at Brookie.

Gee you have had a great day Mark!

Forget the footy, how good to be eating some German soul food and drinking some German beer.

We turned up today. You could see the effort from the opening whistle. The issue was not effort. It was not a pitiful performance at all, we just got beaten by a really good football side. Surprise?!
Surprised You ask feathered friend ?
Who ever says that they are not surprised that we lost by 7 tries and 40 points in a game that mattered and in front and in favor of our home crowd is beyond reality

The reality for those that are beyond reality is this .....
We turned up today and got our arses kicked in .
For those that have high Manly standards would be very disappointed by our Not The Manly Way performance
