Manly v Roosters Rd 9 (pre game discussion)

This game could go any of three ways.

1) an absolute flogging of epic proportions!

2) a close game where Manly takes the lead but doesn’t believe in themselves to finish the job and get run down with 10 minutes to go!

3) a surprise win by the Sea Eagles but not by many.

And ****ed if I know which one.

And it’s beyond being the MIGOTY!

Personally I wouldn't have minded Barrett giving Tom Wright the run in the centres instead of Suli. Sure he may not be quite ready for first grade, but we're getting to the stage where we have nothing left to lose by blooding a few of the younger players.

I have no problems with Suli in the centres but the logical issue with Tom Wright would have been the wing Matt Wright is playing on

Well for the 1st time this year I have not picked Manly to win in the couple of tipping comps I am in. We are now bound to win @;)

I did the same hoping the same. I'm happy to get it wrong and will be cheering if I do.

Maybe I’ve gone into survival mode, but I think Manly will go alright.
I’ve got to go bush tomorrow, for a week, so won’t get to see or hear it.

@Chip and Chase . Mate this team selection is not as funny as the predicted selected ones with the passenger Croker and the error riddled Uate and the result was that we got thrashed by teams such as the winless Parramatta eels .
I would rather try something different than going in with the same names that costs us the games .
People that are afraid of change never change anything 😉
I'm all for trying something different , but lets base it on something tangible. Tom Wright has been playing centre in ISP and he has been overlooked in that position for someone who has played 2 games and is 10kg overweight. What does that tell you about how he is going ?? and then you want to put him at fullback in the NRL and move our best fullback to 6 where he has never played before ?? Tom Wright isn't Kalyn Ponga mate, and Turbo isn't a 6. Then you want to move our left centre to the right wing and the reserve grade right centre to left centre to replace him ?? Isn't Funa playing Jersey Flegg at the moment ??

It could potentially be a genius move, but we'll never know because it is 1000-1 to happen. I think the side we have named is probably the best option from available cattle, it's not a premiership quality backline but all things considered (Hastings being picked excluded) I'm OK with what Baz has gone with.

Suli is a first grader, the Dogs and Tigers both would have kept him if his head had been in the right place. And he'd probably be playing first grade for either side right now if he hadn't been sacked.

One rumour I'm hearing is we're going to see Suli on the bench, Walker still in the centres and a surprise choice in the halves.....

But it won't be Hastings. He and Funa were left out of the 19 today.

I think we will be short on ticker to close out the game.I'm really hoping Dylan Walker can show his maturity at 5/8, being a failed experiment, and a little worried about Suli against Latrell Mitchell. And no more injuries!

If Lewis is really going to play at the 6, I would like to see young Kelly swap with Lewis at times through the game.

I think he may have some untapped potential as a running 6.

Imagine the impact a win would have right now, on not only the playing group but the entire club.

The positive of this whole 2 months of drama is that it gives the squad a chance to galvanise and create the old "us against them" attitude for our new group of players. This attitude can't be learned in a short space of time. It took our premiership squad years together to build up that strength. This group needs to hurt as one and really want to fight their way out of it... Together.

Will they fight their way out of it today. Let's bloody hope so. A win would shut up a few media ****wits and leave them speachless.

C'mon Manly. Find a way.

Exactly what is needed, it’s the “ when” that no one knows!!

FFS . Surely not.You can’t have rotating five eights ( both ordinary in that position) playing inside an overweight inexperienced centre, with a bench from hell and win football games.

By not picking Hastings we end up with multiple blokes playing out of position or out of their depth . even less cohesion and a general feeling of chaos.

Whatever Hastings has done it has not attracted the attention of the Integrity unit so it must be a personal issue.I don’t even rate Hastings highly as a half ( better as a relieving 9 with more minutes) but he has a decent pass and kick and a modicum of experience AND he at least allows other players to play in their rightful position and allow some fluency while taking kicking pressure off DCE.

As a paying member being subjected to week after week of rubbish I think we are entitled to know why our club is imploding off the back of a personal issue.

Do they want to get the spoon.?The draw says we will get it

.Pathetic performance every week with still plenty of talent available ,no transparency., no improvement.Fans deserve better,or at least an explanation. Its amateur bull****.

I spent most of my career in one of the most cutthroat work environment yiu could think of. If I turned it up everY time I had to work with or trade against a dickhead I’d have lasted 10 minutes . Just suck it up and do what you are paid handsomely for. When the bloke doesnt play we get flogged anyway. It doesn’t help the team. It’s soft. Simple as that.

Just arrived in Sydney to watch this game with my daughter. Expecting nothing. Would like a surprise please.

Really finding it hard to get a definite feel on how Manly or the game will go today and especially with the back line and positional changes for Manly . Don't think that Poo has ever played as a i st grade 5 / 8 in his entire career so doubt the accuracy of this suggestion and especially his main and normal bench role to cover A P I . Still like the look of the Manly pack , the experiment with Suli could really result in anything [ good or not so good ] . Roosters have hardly been setting a good example on consistency and if Manly can finally retrieve some much needed confidence and self belief , not out of the question that they could even click as a unit today and even stage an upset . [ certainly hope so ] Maybe Kelly as a rotating 5 / 8 but not when Walker has already been selected there and again as far as the option of playing Poo there at any stage , just a ridiculous suggestion .

We tend to play sides back into form, so I’m expecting the same.

I usually go for an afternoon walk for about 45-60 minutes and usually around 4pm , and despite it being a Manly game today will be no different, I’ll record the game, come back about 5pm, check the score and if it’s 28-0 ( or similar) I’ll hit the delete button.

To be honest I’m over the side not turning up.

I get there’s boys injured but look at Penrith who have a heap of key players out and lost their main forward in warm up.

Oh sure they got beaten, but they tried their guts out.

These players have to earn my respect back before I’ll buy in again.

I’ll never desert them, or the club, but I don’t need the disappointment each week of seeing them not give a toss and then laughing with the opposition players after a loss!! And yes I know some don’t laugh, but many do!!
