I’m not happy just not surprised and don’t have any control over the state of the club. For that reason, I try and keep a level head about things and enjoy the footy and enjoy life. I respect your right to an opinion, I respect your right to be angry and demand more, etc. but I’m a different person to you and my love for Manly manifests in different ways. Neither are right or wrong.
Good comeback to a good post from @Ryan

God I love Silvertails.

Some pre game - we are a joke, we'll lose by 50+, I just pray we can be competitive.

Some of those same posters post game losing by 12 - We are a pathetic joke of a club.

Always good for a chuckle.

As for last night, positives and negatives. Certainly a better performance than expected and I liked Seibolds strategy of shifting early and often. Okay the Garrick kick was pretty comedic but at least they were throwing punches.

Pretty disappointing that it was that act of foolishness, DCE's foolish pass and the Refs stupidity that led to three of their tries.....got to be better.

Talking of stupidity, Josh Schuster.....what do you do with him. All the talent in the world but a lack of work ethic and footy IQ is killing us and him. I wont jump on the hysterical cut him bandwagon, beause he just re-signed and I'm not sure dumping him to reserves helps anyone. That said he is a net negative atm so I'd bring Arthur in at 5/8 and put Schu on the bench in the D Walker role.

Veaga....love his passion and big hits but from day dot I've never seen him as a first grader.

We need some speed on the left.

I imagine Parker will sit next week so Id have Koula on the left. Harper in on the right and maybe give Falualo a run on the left wing.

Burbo.....man, poor id cant get through a game.
yeah, agree about the usual death riders all predicting a massive loss, then, all go scurrying back under a rock when it's a close loss or a win.

We played like we do all year but almost won against the best team of the past 5yrs. If the panthers didn't have 3 extra players and another 1 sitting in the bunker and someonelse playing instead of JShu we would have won. Quicker we get rid of him the more game we'll win.

Indeed, in the last week a bunch of usual suspects have been outraged at Manly's inability to beat the millionaire pre-season faves and now the defending 2 time premiers (and $1.08 favourites to beat us!)
They have a point, yet again Manly has failed to be one of the top teams in the comp. Which, based on our roster, will doubtless have the entire league world stunned and in total disbelief!
But we are in a premiership roster according to our owners and club leaders. The fact our season nose dived last year after rainbow gate was just a coincidence and Spoony was brought in to turn our fortunes around. Coach Proud declared we were a finals team several times this year.

The Panthers were there for the taking last night with Kenny, Jerome, Leniu, Peachey and Tago out. They were also way off their best yet never looked like losing in the entire second half. The Bold ball tactic of kicking on first tackles was a distinct failure, and shifting early ball to the edges is hardly revolutionary.

Our points came through traditional play rather than anything outlandish.

The grind was what we needed in that second half.

A 12-24 loss with the difference in the scoreline being DCE's dumb pass to intercept specialist Crichton & Garrick's even dumber first tackle kick. Also, an (dis)honourable mention to Schuster for his extremely dumb first tackle kick.

Footnote: I would speculate that if the Tartak managed Fainu bros had been selected (Latu 6, Samuela 13), Manly probably would have won the game :)

We gifted them 2 tries. The whistle ars*clown gifted them another. Without those we win. It was our own stupidity and dumb plays that threw last night and indeed most of this seasons losses away. It means we lack footballing IQ to compete for top 8. They can blow rainbows over DCE all they like but his game management abilities when it really matters in premiership matches is well below the pedestal he's been put on.

They had an intercept try, a mis-refereeing "try" and a try from a poorly-timed kick of ours where we then just didn't cover the return run in defence. So it is not really as though they beat us with superior play, and maybe that is a plus.
Yep it could have been 18 nil at half time , but it wasn't, Penrith has become the Manly of old, and we have become the Penny Panthers of old, the better you are, the luckier you get.

First half, Panthers looked off their game - perhaps partly because of us - and going into the sheds 12-all, that was not bad at all. Second half they steadied their game and we started making a crap-pile of errors and that is really what killed us, even given the ref's efforts. Panthers came back to life and took control of the game. That is where both teams are at now.

Agree with this. I thought the Panthers being the premiers weren't all that flash and Ivan Cleary talked them up in the presser more than they deserved. Imo the game was ours to lose and the Panthers only did enough to win.

The intercept try didn't help, but half-time upset our momentum. I don't know what was said at half-time...whatever it was didn't work. As for DCE's halves partner, I think if DCE had a bit of support from him, things could've been different. And why we didn't use our captain's challenge is beyond me!

Also it'd be nice to have a little bit of good instead of bad luck. This week we lost 2 to failed HIA's, last week we lost Lodge early in the game, which upset their rhythm. The week before we lost Tui, and Paseka at the start of the Sharks game. We're running out of troops and running out of time...

I dreaded going to Brookie yesterday fearing a massacre, which was anything but, and instead saw a much better game than the week before. One can only hope we get an ounce of much needed luck in the next 3 weeks.

It was hilarious wasn’t it. Just the fact that Schu thought he could kick ahead and Parks win the chase was insane. Was that Robocop call in reference to Parker. Man that’s gold.

Robocop was about Vaega.

The thing that hurts is that it was the 1st tackle. Schuster should have just taken the tackle. He should have only kicked if Saab, Koula or Garrick were the ones chasing. Parker was flat out just trying to catch up to Shoe who was on a treadmill for the last 25 of that run.

From the Jane Try it looked like they were running on the spot.

Speed Kills

and Slow Kills try opportunities

Slow is also a defensive liability as you can not stop any one that you can not catch

Slow is the Mother of all Mediocrity

Any one watch the Premiership contenders speedy Broncos back line last night ?
They would Slaughter any Slow back line

Slow and steady is a Nursery Rhyme Myth
It wins no NRL Rhys Walsh Race to the try line

We didn't lose by 2, or 4, or 6, or 8, or 10 - we lost by 12, and everyone is pumped haha
The salient point is we could have won the game if we played smarter (we gifted the game to the Panthers). Also, an officiating error led to Penrith's second try & we had two right side players head binned. Hopefully, with nothing to lose, Manly can play more free flowing, but still disciplined football in the last three games.
