‘Iron jaw’ stars for Eagles

CENTRE Brad Parker has become the Sea Eagles’ genuine ironman.

The Christian Brothers junior displayed his toughness by playing in Manly’s round 11 game against Gold Coast at Lottoland with a broken jaw and was subsequently sidelined for seven weeks.

“I had two metal plates put in and they will be there for life – I’m old iron jaw now,” Parker said ahead of today’s game with the Knights at Lottoland.

He was the most nervous he has been before his NRL return against the Eels two weeks ago.

“But after five minutes or so all worries went out the window – I felt pretty comfortable out there,” he said.

CENTRE OF ATTENTION

UNDER the guidance of Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler, Parker is one of the NRL’s most improved players who has taken his game to a new level in 2019.

He is very grateful to Hasler for moving him from the wing to give him a crack back in the centres.

“That’s where I feel most comfortable for defence and attack and it’s where I played my whole life,” Parker said.

“And I’ve got to give Des a lot of credit for making me work on my flaws.”

Parker is off contract at the end of this season and is leaving the negotiations to his management team while he concentrates on playing good footy.

“Manly has been my No. 1 team my whole life and if I could stay here I would take that opportunity but if that doesn’t work out I’m happy to find somewhere else,” he said.[/QUOTE

What a nice story
Another who just wants to play for us
I’m telling you
It is contagious

Nervous but excited too.

This game is a very important one, as is every single game to round 26.

1pm start here in Broome

Need to keep him if possible - passionate Manly team player.

Have to admit I am a little nervous
We seem to be in a good position to play well and just hope we take advantage of it

It would be a good time to show that we can be clinical in executing a win and nit give the knights a sniff at any stage

I would love to see us just control the match for the entire 80 and play with discipline

Our class will then give us enough points to win

Go Manly
Our edge defense will be key - look how dangerous Melbourne were last night playing more laterally. They didn’t do that so much with us and our middle held firm. Need blokes like Dylan and Jorge to keep their cool and not race out of the line tackling no one. Knights will def attack out wide.

Look, now is the time for Manly to put the lesser teams to the sword and by a big margin. If Melbourne can beat the Broncos by 40 away from home after last weeks bruising encounter, Manly should beat the nights by 30+ at home.

Let the good times roll....

Manly 54 - Newcastle 12
