This one is all on our pack. They have a big side the knights. We take it to them in the middle and bash them and our backs will tear them a new one. I’ll be on a flight to the uk when this one’s on. First game I’ve missed live in many years, heck can’t recall the last one actually. Was running late and missed kick off v Sharks away last year. That’s about it.

Seens as the boys are playing about with positions, I’ve got one on why Humphreys is getting a crack now.
So Bennett rings Seibs.
‘How’s it going gravel gutz?
‘ Could be better, you old prick.’
‘ Anyway, I was thinking how we might help each other out this weekend?’
‘ How so, you crafty old bastard’?

" Well it’s no surprise that once I signed up for the Souths gig, the mob all pulled their collective fingers out, and started playing for next years spots, yeah I know Keppies still dropping balls, but the rest of them. Look at lard arse at the back, anyone would think he stopped eating KFC the minute he got a call from someone (hint, hint Seibs, it was me!).

‘So where was I, yeah so as you know I knicked Humphreys just for fun, but I was thinking if you pick him against the Knights and have a little word to him on the side, that the best coach ever (no Seibs, it’s not Bellyache, it’s me you cheeseburger eating blob).
" Now listen carefully Seibs. Tell the young bloke that I personally asked you to give him a run. And not just a run. It will be up to him, wether he gets a go in 1st grade next year, or wether I boot him straight to reggies with bugger all chance of making it out all based on Sunday. It’s a win/win Seibs. You get a much needed win. And I get one over on the only club I had bugger all success at (not my fault. Trying to work with that many inbreeders in management was a nightmare).
"So what do you reckon gravel gutz?’
" As we speak Wayne ol' mate I have just scrubbed Lawton, and Humphreys is a go. Do you really think he’ll play that good, you old coot’?
" Of course, it is I, the best and oldest coach ever". :wasntme:
You’ve got too much time on your hands or you’ve been reading too many fan fictions.

I agree a first gamer compared to a bloke who has played over 200 games will need to own the game, Brooks for me has been well below par with the ball in hand for several weeks, his kicking game can only get better also.

The selection of Jamie is most likely for his kicking in general play, defensively Jamie has been below par like you say, hence why I think he may have been overlooked for the Vermin game.

On Hoppa I agree his frame is very light for the tough carried out and gaining that quick play the ball, with Turbos fitness maybe Hoppa spends some time at the back also.
The issue with brooks is he is a good player maybe a reasonable player but I don’t know what the club expected. He has played 11 years of first grade and never took a team to the semis as he cannot control a game. He is no where near a Kieran Foran level.

There was a lot written about Schuster and some of it was mainly there, though the left edge attack has been no where near the level it was with the ball when Schuster was there, Brooks is fitter and does well in defence, however his ball playing has not improved as the season has progressed..

Inspired by the Clint Eastwood movie, Gran Torino.
(The barber shop scene).
You would know this grasshopper if you’d watch any of my movie suggestions. Especially Clint/Wayne.

It's almost criminal what they miss out on by not taking suggestions on board....

(yet we have to scroll through endless "amazingly (not) funny" tiktoks that clog up our phones!!!) lol

Brooks was looking amazing until the Eels game when Moses just rushed him all night and took his time away - which is the blueprint other teams have followed since. Since then, he has been solid but not like the game breaker. What he has still done, which has been very important for DCE's game, is to be a credible threat on the other side of the park. Overall we are a better side with him in it, especially if Mr eat KFC and jog everywhere Schuster was the alternative.

Agree, think we're a bit light on, on the bench, Navale should get the Sat call up for 1st grade you'd think. In the meantime have a nice flight to the UK.

We are favourites for this match and we should win easily .

But will we? I guess we are in the hands of supercoach Seibold .
Mate, we have to. We need to string wins together. Win-loss-win or win-loss-loss-win just won't cut it at the pointy end of the season. There are too many other teams around us on the ladder not to approach every game as a must-win. We don't have any more "free throws at the stumps" left.

Looking at this match analytically:
Newcastle has a full-strength pack which is formidable. Then look at the front line forwards we are missing:
Jurbo
Tent
Lodge
Burbo
Froggy
All five of these forwards would be in our best 17.
So, let's not assume we'll win this match simply because Newcastle is missing some backs. We also are missing our finest back, and captain, DCE.

Easy read as to the Newcastle gameplan....simple, tough footy in the middle and play percentages to earn the arm wrestle and hope Manly cave in.
This is a real good test about the teams toughness both physically and mentally, as the side has the ability to run away with it if they come out with good intensity.
Yes it's on Seibold to get into their heads, but these professional highly paid athletes should not need to be "prompted" about the job ahead and realistically should have the determination and respect for the Manly emblem to get out there at home and rip into the Knights from the opening whistle.
I anticipate a 16 - 22 point win but will take the 1 again IF needed.....

The opportunity to play finals right now rests in our players hands. The boys are close enough if good enough.

Let's not forget that this squad has had more than $850k on the sideline with the 👠 missing all year. Our boys sure could we have used a top gun 5/8 and or ball playing back rower in the last couple of months.

Last year Guacs brain explosion against the Knights was more costly than just one point, it was the turning point and end of our good early season form, probably ended his origin selections too.

Could growth be reflective this year? Guac has played origin, opposite his origin selection has ended just before he takes on the Knights this year. And it is a focused , a disciplined, a determined young leader in Guac, who can this week potentially start a run of good form.
