Match Stats

Reckon Navale a better option than Waddell - will tackle all day and is much quicker. Patolo well off the pace in the 2nds yesterday. Ben T's days as a centre are well over. Now too slow.
Just have to hope very minimal game day injuries in the backs, as a sub 9 and three forwards seem the preferred option on the bench .
Guess that Waddell 's versatility offers a bit of appeal for a bench spot but pleased that Navale did well yesterday .
Really hope that Patolo can get better , definitely showed something worthwhile in the trials and his starting prop position warranted yesterday but looks like a way to go yet

Sipley and Bully were great off the bench.
Not sold on Jazz at hooker. He did a reasonable job. Croker hopefully making good progress in his recovery and will hopefully be available in just a few weeks time.
Plenty of upsides in yesterdays performance. I'm prepared to overlook the final 15 mins.

I thought Jazz Tavega had a great game, fantastic debut for the club.

His chase, when Turbo was being twisted inside out trying to stop the Cowboys from scoring a try on our LHS, was phenomenal and those little things are what stick out to a fan.

Thank you Jazz; keep it up.
This moment was special. Jazz ran from the ruck to make that tackle (running past most of his teammates in the process). Jazz isn't the fastest, biggest or flashiest player, but he gives his all.

Great victory...good energy, skills on display, solid D, minimal errors for round 1.

IMO , downside , They have set the bar very high now and will need to execute consistently. If they put in subpar performances we will be gruelling them.

Pressure is on now.

Welcome back feathered friend. I hope you have been well
There were plenty of upsides
We do not Blemish our upsides by looking on our downside final 15 minutes
We look at those last 15 minutes and try to Polish our 80 minute game
We Never take the Gloves Off before the siren sounds
We keep Punching till the finals seconds of the round
Our Area of Improvement is to be more Ruthless
Which one of you reading this does not want Manly to be more ruthless ??????

About the only downer about Saturday night was the deadset farce that is the F&B arrangements at Brookvale Oval. Note to Manly operations - if it takes the punters a full half to grab 4 beers you have probably failed.

Also, a tip here, if you are relying on 5G to process payments at Brookvale, you have failed again, remember to leave on the wifi before you lock the office on Friday night…..

It's a shame that Koula picked up the cork because if he had stayed fit and on the field, we would have kept a clean sheet.

Burbo was good in the back row but the speed mismatch with Burns at the end of the match allowed for some cheap breaks. We also didn't respect the ball enough. Disciplined football would have seen us plow through them for two or three more tries.

I'm glad that we were able to get guys in cotton wool once the match was over though. The Warriors have had two weeks to turn around so they will be fresh next weekend.

Wish Manly would cease moving Ben T into the centyres - these days he cannot cope with the lateral speed requirements.
Agreed and I don't think it's even these days, he's just never been a centre which isn't even a knock on him. In his 5 NRL starts at centre he's 0-4-1 (W-L-D) and for the 3 in NSW Cup he's 1-2-0, that's a 12.50% win rate if we're being generous.

I can see why people knock Ben, but I don't really see it after last nights game. I guess someone's gotta be the whipping boy on here. I think @frank stokes said it best earlier, there's a decent footy player in Ben to be unlocked.

How many of his missed tackles were when he slotted into Koula's spot in the centres? Genuinely asking cause I'm not sure, could be wrong but I thought he looked alright last night.
2 missed tackles on my count back, when he started playing there in the 58th. Could be 3, depending on how you count them, he slipped off someone but then went back in for the tackle.
