Manly forward Haumole Olakau'atu has been ruled out of Tonga's Pacific Championships campaign against Samoa and New Zealand after requiring season-ending shoulder surgery.
Olakau’atu will not play again this season after dislocating his right shoulder in Sunday’s Round 21 loss to the Bulldogs at Allianz Stadium.
The Tongan international dislocated the same shoulder against the Titans in Round 15 and was making his NRL return against the Bulldogs, after six weeks of rehabilitation.
However, he lasted just 43 minutes before re-injuring the joint in his side's loss to the Bulldogs.
The Sea Eagles announced on Monday that Olakau’atu would undergo surgery in the next couple of weeks and should be ready to return to full contact in January.
Olakau'atu's injury happened on almost the same patch of grass at Allianz Stadium that Melbourne halfback Jahrome Hughes dislocated his shoulder on Thursday night.
