Manly - Storm rematch - in Perth?

Do you know that our average crowds at Brookvale has decreased every year since 2006? Considering our membership must have doubled and also our success since then, this is a very bad stat. If more people attended matches, than the club wouldn't have to consider this sort of thing so seriously.

I don't dispute your 'stat', however, for it to be in context you need to analyse how many Sunday matches we now play, how many crappy Monday night games we get etc.
The lack of Sunday afternoon football - purely because of television - is the major reason crowd numbers fluctuate.

Last year the game against The Storm was a Friday night, and I think was the biggest crowd of the year. It goes to show we can get good crowds when people can be motivated to attend the footy.

People not motivated enough to support their team because it's not on a Sunday or it's too cold or too wet is the problem. There are too many poor excuse for people not going to the games these days.

And before I get slammed too much I acknowledge alot of people have good reasons for not being able to get to games, but many have soft excuses eg. it was too cold.

The above line is complete and utter crap. I never said any such thing. All I said was that if it is financially beneficial to the club then I'm all for it. That I would still fly over to watch it. However, after what happened last year between the two clubs this was one game I wish was at Brookie, but at no stage did I criticise the club. The 'journalist' who called me has proven himself to be a typical news Ltd hack.

After the way they have slammed our club and us supporters over the last few months, I'm surprised that you'd talk to them at all Bones.

Just further illustrates that you can't believe everything that you read.

I can understand the disappointment , especially for the few thousand hard core fans that turn up all the time. They deserve the storm game at brookie, but the club has to come first, I have posted before how i believe manlys fan base is dwindling when it should be growing. I believe Manly are chartering into other territories as sydney is almost dead to them except for existing fans.

The club has to try something and taking the storm game away as a recruitment tool is as good a decision as it gets

Id suggest the locals should get used to it, reluctantly of course. I support the move but do feel for the faithful. It would be a bitter pill to swallow

I think we both know our membership numbers do not represent customer growth. What manly need is to entice the 7 - 15 yo fans who followed other teams or who never followed a team to be adopting the sea eagles as there life long team. While i have no real figures to back this up my opinion is manly are more hated than ever and finding our next generation and growing that is no ta statistice we would like to see, especially considering our recent results

Manly once had a good proportion of qld fans but the bronx, cows and the GC will erode that. Manly is not even that loved on the peninsula. Once upon a time a manly GF saw the peninsula bathed in maroon. It is much mors sparodic these days

Our dwindling crowd numbers are a better reflection but i admit with scheduling and tv it isnt a sure fire indication either

My question is, do you believe manly are producing as many new fans as the ones that are dyeing or turning off and where is there target audienceS

I accept i could be wrong but i will take some convincing

The answer is plain and simple. Brookie needs to be fixed. If we had the same facilities as to which is afforded to every other club in the NRL I reckon you could easily put another 5k people on average through the gates each weekend.

Complaining about taking the Melbourne game away is really taking the focus off the main issue. Fix Brookie.

There is 2 reasons those figures have gone down.
Monday night football was reintroduced in 2007 I think you will find we have played 2 home games on a Monday night since then. But also we all know afternoons at brookvale get the biggest crowds. Also in 2008 the introduced 2 Friday night games as a result instead of 4 potiental Sunday afternoon games there is only 2. If you went back through it you would see our Sunday games have dewindled since 2007 do we aren't getting much help from the nrl.

Ding Ding Ding, Exactly right if brookie was up to standard we wouldn't need to move games. Reality is that it needs a massive injection of Cash until that happens we have to accept games will be moved for the good of the club.

More pressing than the quality of the ground is the lack of publc transport and the saturated roads that cars use.

Fri/Mon night traffic is at least one hour from City. The overcrowded buses of Commuters are what Fans of 2 Clubs need to face.

I havnt been to Canberra for a while,but every other ground is within walking distance to transport. And Bronco games even have free transport. The Cowboys have a $10 bus that picks up all along the Hotel Strip. Titans have the free bus from the Titanium Bar. These ensure a free flow of Fans.

Something else to lobby the State Govt for.
Does anyone know what parties at Manly are responsible for liaising with the relevant Ministries?

From a marketing point of view I can see where there (Manly) are coming from. They don't call WA the "wild west " for nothing...they love a stink, and if they can get a fraction of what went on last year at Brookie, they'll pack the joint solid for the " Punch on in Perth". But of course no one will actually disclose that as the reason to take the game there, (that being an unsavoury and unprofessional look for the kiddies and all!😛).
I've never been to Perth so I'd be up for a Tramby tour, but I can understand the Sydney crew blowing up. What to do???

I follow the Seattle Sea Hawks in the NFL.. why? Because members of my family spent two weeks there....

I'm sure, as a brand we have something to offer... who doesn't love Manly beach, the corso and the area?? (constant world wide tourists)

I'm talking world wide visitors and their memories of the visit. To take a premier match to Perth would enforce the beauty and desire to be able to have a slice of what we, as tourists. enjoyed by visiting the peninsular (and Perth.. it's beautiful.)

History- = Mudgee Dragons playing Manly in a trial in about '75 ish and being the kid helping out on the scoreboard, moving to Sydney at about 11 and enjoying calls from the North Sydney Oval Hill of "choco Bears melt in the sun"

We have a good brand that needs to be capitalized on.
