Manly stars back under-fire Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey after club CEO admits job threat

Part of our problem might be Foran and Cherry-Evans whiteanting Toovey and the club.

Cherry-Evans is no doubt trying to get the turbo brothers and Gutho to go with him the gold coast.

It's probably true that DCE has an eye on the three of them but I believe the odds of Manly re-signing them are greater than the odds of them signing elsewhere.

All three have made their debuts for the club as teenagers and have not looked out of place in first grade. This is extraodinary that we have three potential stars who have debuted so close together as teens. It seems that all three have been well treated by the club so I feel that the ball is in our court. By no means are they guaranteed to re-sign but it would take a horrendous :swear: up by the club to lose any of the three.

He owns the joint, so by rights he is Chair, CEO, CFO, COO and anything he wants to be.

The Manly CEO is in name only, and only able to do what the owner wants or what he can convince the owner to agree to.

AS for the Board, well its really just shadow games now. Penn is the board.
Manly CEO is no different to any other CEO. He runs the ship day to day, but is ultimately answerable to the shareholders.

The only difference is that finally we have one majority shareholder, which means staff won't be pulled in different directions.

The problem of course is that doesn't guarantee they won't be pulled in the wrong direction...

Like the two a couple of months ago.......

I was there at the 1996 Grand Final when Tooves won the Clive Churchill Medal (the first Manly game I ever got to see in person). I've never seen someone smaller in a senior game take the pounding he did and keep getting up and leading his team from the front. And as you can see in the photo's, his right eye was a mess.

Arko was right when he announced him as the Churchill Medallist. He is one of the toughest players ever to pull on a boot.

Some of the current team would do well to put their bodies on the line even half as much as Tooves did.

Tooves played that 96 GF win with a fractured eye socket I think. Could've lost sight in that eye. Of course no one ever makes mention of it because he isn't some Souffs plonker.

He is managing the day to day I agree.
Penn (if not that fat greek turd) sets the agenda, conditions and direction.

Really hes no more the CEO than Penn lets him be. Looks nice on an org chart I'm sure.

You mean the kind of horrendous :swear: up the club seems to specialise in these days? (I kid, I kid.) Surely we can hang onto talented local juniors who actually want to play together at the club…
