Manly playing in CQ

Gladstone did seem like an unusual location to be selected when there are other venues that would seem more suitable such as Bundaberg , Rockhampton , and Mackay . It must have just been an arbitrary decision by the N R L and i am not aware of other location's situation but the Mackay R . L . in my region for instance had no opportunity to even make a submission or a bid . Anyway about a four hour or so road trip south down the coastal highway for me and as i have the appropriate licence , i might even look at hiring a medium size bus [ and for it to pay it"s way ] and to fill up with Sea Eagles supporters [and there are some numbers in my region ] to travel down the coast here to Gladstone to support the Manly boys for this match .

I agree, Gladstone is a bit of an odd choice. There is a better oval with a stand at nearby Crescent Head, also Kempsey has a sporting complex. Even south west rocks could have been ok.

I have no problem with games being sent to country or non NRL districts. Its what the League needs to do more and more to increase interest in the game. Since SuperLeague, there has been little interest in country and other locations and the game has diminished. Personally I think all teams should have 2 home games played in country or other locations
Yes and no. It's a puny alternative to the proper funding and support of junior and bush footy, yes it's better than nothing but all a bit token gesture-ish really.

You're right SER8. They should be pouring money into development. But at least this is one small step for a game

It's there because the State Government believes it will inject cash into a town which has half gone bust. A scaffold stadium creating more work is exactly what they want.
