Manly Kicking game 2019

Plenty of media and footy journo's have acknowledged Manly's ability to push forward up the middle making massive metres that have not led to points.
An area I feel is underestimated has been a poor kicking game, especially since Green departed.
Its almost been a kick and hope mentality with very few results.
Maybe this is an edge Elgey will provide, as he does have a sharp short kicking game, boasting both attacking kicks and can win those evasive repeat sets.
it's also been at times a poor chase, with Manly allowing massive momentum from the opposition back 3 winning those early tackles with the ball, the old saying of a poor chase can make a good kick look bad....
Maybe with Elgey and Fainu getting more game time we can have more kicking options that take the heat off DCE, who it seems has the expectation of basically everything.
Anyways, hope for an improved kicking game in 2019 as the importance of this factor can/does decide games.

Kicking game has been a disgrace. So much room for improvement it is not funny. Some very poor tactical choices have to be questioned. Last year we had the grubber it out at all costs routine. For the last 3 years DCE has had a Bomb it but don't even try and land it any closer then 10 metres out from the try line.

Hopefully the first step to getting more repeat sets and having the kick as an attacking weapon, is a team which actually practices and attempts such a thing.

we didn't struggle too much scoring points last year finishing middle of the pack and were in the top 4 for points scored at the halfway mark.

Our kicking was poorer with Green gone for sure and would be an area to address

Spot on Maxta

Hard to believe but after Barrett dispatched Hastings there was not a single kicker in the 30 man squad other than DCE until Hodkinson was available. It was an absolute disgrace to put together a roster like that , not to mention we had only one hooker and he couldn’t kick either.DCE was so easy to isolate.

This year we have plenty of guys who can be an option. Elgey has a great short kicking game in particular and a lovely pass if he can get his defence in order.

We will struggle big time out wide with Walker out but repeat sets and precision bombs might add a few points to the score because we are going to need every one of them.

It is our Achilles heel for sure. We rarely score tries from attacking kicks and we concede plenty. Our wingers need to step up at both ends. I would love to see us get a better share of line drop outs as well. The heat has been on DCE to get us results and we need our spine to help us get more resets and have other options for kicking. This is an area where we can really improve.
