I think they can do that as their sports makes so much money anyway. They don't need team jersey sponsors.

NBA have started to have sponsors on shirts as well, but extremely small compared to what we have. It is interesting though as college teams also don’t have sponsored kit and fields. Probably cos they make so much through TV. I was recently at a Denver Broncos game v Cleveland Browns in Denver and the broncos were 2-6 at the time yet had 75k at the game.
