Manly Coach 2026 is...

Well Dymock will remain.

Not sure how this is as nothing other than a sideways move.

Jason Demetriou was a sneaky rumour early in the year but that has gone quiet.

Unless they sign a proven premiership winner they are going to keep rehashing past mistakes.

An 0-5 start next year will see the pressure start all over again on a rookie coach. We are already shaping as a bottom four-six side.

Anyway I will get behind whoever has the job.

An untried coach, who is at his 4th club since 2019. If this guy was any good, he wouldn't be on the list, someone else would have snapped him up. Please no, this is not what manly needs.
Well we tried a tried coach and that didn’t work, so why not try an untried coach?

This would make me nervous.

Obviously wait to see if it comes true and if it does I'll reserve judgement till we see results but that said......seems a real hope for the best type of appointment rather than a calculated, well thought out plan.

A worry.

I am not sure anyone knows this as surely this is Mestrov's decision and why would he leak? That said I am also not sure how Ennis would be an improvement. There are much more experienced, available options there - Peters, Hannay to name two.

We are better off having a couple years of struggle while bringing young talent in rather than constantly being 7-12 like we are now. Should be 0 pressure on a first year coach if we are rebuilding IMO

Ennis has the advantage of already being familiar with the playing group, who’s opinion would no doubt have been sought before any announcement. Getting the support of the playing group is a big step in the right direction, given rumours are things are currently quite fractured.

Ennis and Ballin - thats sounds solid

on another topic, i think Greg Alexander would make a good assistant then a head coach. not sure if he has been offered a role.

Say it ain't so .... surely not. If this is true, it just proves our owners are not seriously interested in success and all they want is broadcasting and NRL SSS. Maybe when Brookie ain't full anymore they'll start realising winning actually does matter to fans.

I guess he'll have Trent Barrett as his assistant for a coaching dream team.

I’m undecided on siebs and certainly do t view him as the root of all our issues.

The squad is the issue and needs major rejuvenating. I’m not sure how this happens with an untried and unproven coach, who is going to pin their career or potential to that?

Nevertheless, at least we are doing something. As this year has been largely rubbish and persevering seems futile.

I hope this means at least 5 players are gone as wel as the ones that are leaving. Our clean out is long overdue

High football IQ & 1 of the best on field motivators according to ex team mates, I’m optimistic about this. Will be interesting to see if it can translate. Id guess Matt B or another ex manly player will be assistant to keep everyone happy.

Seibold seems like a smart guy that just isn’t cut out to be a head coach, I wouldn’t mind seeing him in another role around the club.

Listen to what Townsend had to say about Ennis
Wow. Interesting video......

Is this the same playing group that has dished up the shxt we have watched this season? Not sure they've earn't the right to choose a coach?

I’m full most of the time, especially later in the day.

HARD NO!!!

He has basically zero coaching experience! I can't believe, out of every option out there, they pick the one who was shuffled out of his previous coaching roles, and is only part-time here!!! Is Penn actually joking?

There are so many better options

Brad Arthur

Josh Hannay

Matt King

Matt Ballin

John Morris

Literally any SL coach

But no... This idiot with zero experience!!!

Listen to his commentary for Panthers vs Titans and that should be enough to understand how poor he'll do as a coach. I genuinely don't think he's intelligent whatsoever. You need to have a depth of ideas as a coach, and this guy simply does not have it. He has a case of the Cherry-Evans - he uses big words to sound smart, but has no idea how or where to use them.

Seibold had prior successful coaching experience and had been through the wars at the Broncos. He's a genuinely intelligent person, and he might actually be too intelligent. Des was labelled "the mad professor", and began coaching in 2000 iirc. Four years later, he had his first gig, at a club reaching absolute rock bottom. Toovey was a club legend, who gained experience by being the apprentice of Des across that (premiership-winning) time period.

Point is, everyone of these people had been in a box. They understood coaching beyond just a few drills on Wednesday.

Compare it to Ennis.

If you doubt what I'm saying, why would he have a clue? He's never been a full-time assistant coach, or even a reserve grade coach. The point of his part-time role, is that he's never present on game day, so he can offer his "scintillating" commentary to Fox. Now you expect him to run the show in the box? Know when to sub off the players? Manage the staff? What suggests he is even capable of this?

Zero feedback from anyone, zero recommendations, probably costs $3, that's the story of our club. At least Seibold had some pedigree. This is just jamming the lever back to gear Barrett.

First spoon incoming.

If Ennis has any ideas then why isn't he putting them forward now? I'm sure Seibs would listen to different ways of doing things. If we're moving Seibs on then we need to put a broom through the whole coaching staff. That's how we get fresh ideas
The role of an assistant is quite different to a head coach. That’s why Trent still gets jobs - he’s actually good at some of the technical stuff.

I think Ennis has decent social IQ and played in gritty teams which are two big strengths. Hopefully he can pair up with an experienced assistant to lean on and help him get going.
