Like him or loath him, the Penn family has contributed financially to the existence of this club.

If any of our keyboard warrior Manly fans in here have enough money to buy and then support the club then go ahead, pay up and run it as you like. If you don't, shut up!

Yes, we are not performing well and sure we have had better times, but to go for the guy who is reaching into his own pocket to keep our club afloat and to give us something to hold onto then it speaks volumes of how immature we the so called supporters are.

I think we all know that the Penn's really haven't spent any money on the club. They sold the leagues club site years ago for 20 million profit and have drip fed that same money back into the club claiming that they put millions into it every year. All whilst probably drawing a wage for himself out of the football operations budget that is funded by the NRL.

Anyone who actually believes that the Penn's are pulling 1 million a year out of their own pockets to keep a Rugby League club that they barely have anything to do with a float is pure delusional. No smart business man would ever do that because it is stupid. There is a benefit to them owning the club somehow and maybe it is tax write off but there must be a financial benefit and thats why we are run on a shoestring budget.

If they actually wanted the club to pay for itself and generate money then they would be seriously engaged with current members and doing everything possible to drive new membership, have a look at how they treated current members this season with packs and ticketing costs, the head office is a shambles, I actually feel sorry for Des and the teams because they don't get anywhere near the football operations budget that the others get because Penn's are notorious tight arses, it is why Des left the first time, because they wouldn't spend on the pathways development, now look where we are.

If anyone has any rich friends go and ask them for a few grand for nothing in return and see what reaction you get, wealthy people are wealthy for a reason and they don't get there by giving away money.

my guess is that if he is putting money in Penn loans the club money every year at a decent interest rate and is getting a return from his investment and the club have to struggle to repay the money back to him every year which is why there is nothing left for facilities and high end coaches etc. It is probably why we cycle through CEO's because once they realise that the game is fixed they try to change it then realise they can't win and get out.

I am happy for Penn to throw open the books and prove me wrong but we all know that will not happen.

I was getting concerned that the owner of the club wasnt fronting the media. He has weighed in and said his piece. Whether you like him or not, he's not responsible for team selections. That's on Des. So I don't understand the hate. We aren't a rich club, don't have a benevolent billionaire owner. It's either the Penns or we fold. Unless we can garnish a consortium from silvertails we are stuck with them. Actually consortium of silvertails would end in tragedy. Imagine the fireworks at board meetings with @Woodsie and @Kevinward777

The club website says Cust is a halfback. So we have a halfback playing hooker (not that there's anything wrong with that, except that he's not very good at it)

The club website may say cust is a half back but as we all know he is also a utility that can cover hooker just as well as he did against the Panthers and was rewarded his a great try . OUr only try

The same people who say “we never hear from Penn and the silence is deafening” are the same people that now say he should shut up and not say anything.
Geez there are some real double standards people around here but it s always been that way. The same ones change their minds like yo-yos on all matters and it always gives me a good laugh. Probably also the ones who are too tight to fork out money for a membership and complain because you didn’t get a sticker.
