Manly a victim of no junior success

The Big League programmes during his 1978-79 Manly stint, listed him as a local junior, under the 13 import rule.

In other words he had to have played at least two years in the district juniors, from the age of 15 onwards.
Thank you Mr Zarsoff I'll be happy to amend that.
So a more than fair junior representation in our greatest era despite all the dummies accusing us of buying premierships.
It just proves that in those days we bought right.

I believe that in our premiership years, the local juniors that actually played in the GF's were:

1972 - Ian Martin, Bill Hamilton, Fred Jones

1973 - Ian Martin, Bill Hamilton, Fred Jones, John Bucknall

1976 - Russel Gartner, Alan Thompson, Ian Martin, John Harvey, Terry Randall, Gary Thoroughgood, Mark Willoughby

1978 - Russel Gartner, Simon Booth, Alan Thompson, Max Krilich, John Harvey, Terry Randall, Ian Martin, Wayne Springall. Plus Stephen Knight was a Manly rugby union junior.

1987 - David Ronson, Stuart Davis (?), Phil Daley

1996 - John Hopoate, Geoff Toovey, Steve Menzies, Daniel Gartner, Craig Hancock

2008 - Anthony Watmough, Jason King, Steve Menzies

2011 - William Hopoate, Anthony Watmough, Vic Mauro

Have I missed anyone?

You have and you added one who wasn't a local junior.

As already intimated, Knight was a Manly junior in both codes.

Max Krilich also played in the 1976 GF.

Simon Booth was a Lakes United junior - that is Lake Macquarie.

Stuart Davis doesn't deserve a question mark - he was a Cromer junior.

@Terry Zarsoff thanks for clearing that up.

I wasn't sure about Bug and I'll admit I didn't know that Booth was from Lakes United. And all I could find on Knight was that he was a union junior who first played club league when he joined Wests in 1972.

Leaving Thrower out of the 1976 team was an oversight.
