M Wright

Am struggling to see the logic of him being in first-choice centre pairing.

If he was our only kicker, I could live with it. But DCE our kicker now and Wright looks slow and unthreatening. Did he even play against Knights? 🙂

Surely Parker a better option or Thomson as a stop-gap until Walker returns. Even Jono Wright has a lot more attack in him than Matt Wright.

If our coach has faith in a young inexperienced player from another club in Croker then I think he should show the same faith in either Parker or Tom Wright to partner Kelly .
We are playing a home game and the locals would love to see a local boy given an opportunity and the local boy would feel at home playing at Brookie , especially with a vote of confidence from their coach and I believe both would do better than the very predictable Matt Wright .

You took the words right out of my mouth
Great minds brother... But seriously though, Parker replaced Kelly last year when his form dropped / (was rested as others have opined!) so if he was good enough then he should be good enough now. Otherwise Tom Wright is a gun. He has something special about him and I think he strives in the limelight. He is strong and has speed. If Matt Wright isn't the GK then he should be playing for the reggies..

I'd rather have hastings in centre than wright or parker. At least then we'd have a proper goal kicker....
Why do we need Hastings for his goal kicking? DCE was great kicking against the Knights. Slotted a nice one from the touch line into the sun. And then levelled the scores with 3 minutes to go kicking a pressure kick from 38m out.

Parker was very good when coming in for Kelly last year. In fact he was my first choice this year over Kelly. Not a Kelly basher, just my view. I’ll concede Kelly had a strong first game, but surely Parker should be the other first choice centre with Walker out.

Matt Wright is a plodder. He tries hard, but is a runner (a slow one) and not a passer. Uate needs the ball in his hands. That's why Walker / Uate in my opinion is as good as the Canberra pair of Leilua and that other dude.

Reminds me of the days Des threw Nathan Tutt into the centres due to injury and lack of depth.

Parker for me. He already has FG experience, had impressed us before and is a solid defensive unit.

Wright is apparently carrying an injury, so I am baffled by the logic of his being in the squad. Esp with DCE being the goal kicker. Our right side attack was flat, Uate barely got the ball.

Find out tommorrow I guess.

I don't get what has changed with Tom Wright from the end of last year to the beginning of this one.

Couldn't defend for quids.

But maybe he's bulked up over the off season and I'm wrong.

Parker is a much better option.

Tom Wright is a gun, I don't doubt that, but he'd not ready to be thrown into the NRL just yet. Give him at least half or a full season at Blacktown to get him used to playing against fully grown men before doing that.

Its the same line of thinking I wish Baz would take with Croker rather than throwing him into the deep end like he has and expecting him to out-swim the sharks.

The sooner Walker gets back the better . Kelly is going to be our long term partner to Walks and proved that last week . M Wright is just not up to centre , and Tom w and B Parker are ages away .
