Lodge, you Monster

I would only take him back on a NSW cup/development contract that’s outside of the top 30. Wouldn’t cost us much and adds some experience and depth. When injuries strike he will be very useful to bring straight in.

In hindsight I bet he wished he took the 2 year contract we offered him earlier. Now no one wants him and might have to go to Super League.
… but doesn’t that lock out giving a young kid an opportunity in NSW cup?or a development contract?

Why is anyone on here suggesting Manly should take him back?Apart from being overrated by some on here and not the player they think he is,he’s already knocked back an offer, that in hindsight, was better than anything that he’s been offered elsewhere. The club must believe they have better options and aren’t going to pay more for him

id take him for minimum wage now but wouldnt be giving him the initial offer.

Because if he comes back now he will be on either a train & trial or minimum wage, he’s no superstar but at his best you realistically aren’t going to find many or any players of his quality on that kind of deal in the comp

What do you mean minimum wage??He was already offered that previously and he knocked it back. The club would look weak offering him anything. Not to mention the fact that he did a medical at the Dragons and the best they were willing to offer him was a T&T deal and the fact any deal he was in line to take up at Souths, also fell through.

But he was offered such deals at both Manly and Dragons and he knocked both back.As I said just previously,if all the Dragons would offer him was a T&T deal after his medical, what does that tell you?

Did he fail the medical? I thought it was because he wanted a top 30 spot & they wouldn’t give it to him. The advantage that we would have is that he lives in the area. Either way I’m not too bothered about it as we have some younger players coming through to fill the job

I never said he failed the medical,I said the best offer the Dragons were willing to give him after a medical, was a T&T deal

He would be at very, very long odds to get into England, they are very very tough on letting guys of his ilk into the country now

Can’t believe people actually want to take him back. If this Souths chat it true, they are extremely thin on front rowers, but one of the best man and squad managers in the history of the game has had a look at him and said no thanks, that should say enough.

For me the final straw was when he got obliterated by the roosters in our last game of 2024. Sure, he wasn't alone in the Manly pack that evening, but it was time to move on from him.
Yep. I’ve posted my thoughts on this game on a few occasions over the last few months. It was embarrassing. He talked it up during the week and put a target on his head and when he failed miserably, the opposition and their supporters absolutely revelled in it. That night I went home from the game hoping to God that he’d be cut loose by the club.
I agree with these opinions and I think a couple of other people have said similar things that frankly I am too drunk to go back and figure out now but.....

I never want to see Lodge in a Manly jersey again. As a professional and as a man he had every single thing to play for against Easts that night and what did he do instead? Catted it like he'd heard there was a netball skirt sale on at Mick Simmons and he was afraid of missing an opportunity!

Ability? Toughness? He has none. He is a cr*p player and a dogshi*t human being and his only true ability is the ability to offend multiple people at once. Because he is a knuckle-dragger and a fool.

Seriously can anyone here imagine a real contending team like Penrith or Melbourne or Easts giving him the time of day? Of course not because he is a dogshi*t moron! Culture counts. Like all the supposedly "talented" Fainus I never ever want to see Lodge in a Manly jersey again.

Netball skirt sale at Mick Simmons...classic.lol.

and that guy got him from near jail in the US to the donkies ... so he knows his value (low)

Sadly feathered friends The Cookie Monsters Jar is now Empty .
There are no Cookies for him left in the NRL

Certainly has cut off individually or being denied some worthwhile options at this point of time .
Doubt if Manly are in a position or will be prepared to offer a train and trial deal now and after finalizing some other player arrangements in recent times .
Not even sure if guys like Jacob Sykes are still on development contracts , maybe but hardly think that Lodge would even fit into this category now .
And whatever arrangement with the likes of Zac Saddler .
Looks like the bottom line is that as far as i st grade is concerned , no real interest in offering him much opportunity there .
As a standard Manly N S W cup player , could be a different matter if there some incentive there in a limited financial and part professional sense

Easts did give him the time of day but moved on quickly.

Obviously Lodge’s track record suggests he’s got some issues, but I just flat out don’t rate his football either. He’s an inconsistent, injury prone plodder with a chip on his shoulder.

Not too sure if he had some fitness issues in the final "s games against the Dogs and Roosters but was very underwhelming with his efforts there and when some forward authority was really needed.
Irrespective , Manly came to the conclusion that he did not have that much to offer going forward so to speak .
And to think at a couple of stages in 23 and 24 , the N R L were contemplating putting a value of some hundreds of thousands of dollars on a prospective contract from their point of view .
Well , that is the way it goes and Manly had already had their share of poor value or dubious type performance based contracts .
Then the instance of Alioia 's contract arrangements and extension and can only hope that can work out better ongoing
