Lodge, you Monster

Probably better and seems more like the case to just come to terms with the likely mix of Paseka, Jake , Sipley , Bully Alioai and looks like Tevaga as the prop options .
And just the outside chance of Lodge staying around on a minimal one year deal [ a la Arron Woods ]
Fairly confident that Sipley can measure up , no idea if Alioai will be able to show some consistent value, Bully should go well again
Jake no doubt will be reliable and status quo , maybe Tevaga can offer a bit of energy and drive .
No doubt will be more helpful to have the props getting the ball and over the advantage line quicker .
As for more or better response and mobility in ruck defence , obviously work and adjustments for improvement there .
Not that much of a different mix from most other sides there but to stay with the benchmark sides , have to try and find some way to be more effective .
Keep overlooking Waddell who at his best and even with some limitations can be a very useful competitor in the middle or edge .
Have got the cap [ and forward component ] a bit out of wack with Jake 's current value for money situation [ integral part of the side another matter of course ] and Alioai but just have to make the most what is on offer in the prop department for better or worse

There’s no reason Manly would hold off announcing something because the GF is coming up. It’s not the kind of news that brings the game into disrepute or sends the media into a spin. It would be interesting for Manly fans and the rest of the game would move on very quickly…not to mention Manly have no vested interest in the GF and there are no restraints on media releases.

Maybe waiting for the end of year membership drive to make any significant noise about signings 🤞

The club is holding off on announces Large officially, someone leaked it at the Tigers which forced Mestrov to address it. Maybe they were planning on announces a few signings at 1 time like they did with Talau, Brooks & Paulo last year

Just in regard to cap space , could be some attention Paulo 's way . Fair player but with 3 more years [ i think ] on his current deal and Faulalo ahead of him now on the outside backs pecking order , maybe not that much prospect of nailing an outside back position anytime soon or even longer term
Also apparently Ray Ray yet to be re signed
Sure again that upgrades to Lehi and Bully will be given a bit of priority soon and just to add to some restriction on the speculation of a higher profile forward signing which obviously seems to be generating a bit of interest lately

Re run of an article a little while back.

Slightly different article using some of the same content ran in the UK in the last couple of days too.

It might suggest a player manager is trying to gather up some interest, for his client, and put pressure on the Manly offer which is already on the table.

It's interesting the same article says He still loves it at Manly and they were trying to make some room.

So anything could happen here.

He is and always was a dud. Say's it all no other club is interested and with his criminal record super league looking shaky.

I'm well and truly ready for Lodge to leave. His performance against the Roosters was embarrassing after talking it up during the week. If our forwards are going to get bashed, better to get bashed with our mouths shut, than put a target on our heads during the week. It was embarrassing listening to the Roosters fans absolute give it him and there was no reprisal. That sealed the deal for me. Get rid of him.

Interesting that in the article he says "best case scenario is someone believes in me and offers a multi year deal..."

Hello!
Maybe the best case scenario is on the table.
Two years is multi years isn't it?

And saying l've got bills to pay and four mouths to feed...wasn't his Warriors deal $700k x 2 that he was paid out fully?

Yes, injuries may have curtailed some of his earning power but surely he knows how the game works.

Last thing we want is for this muppett to 'settle' for $300K over 2 years with us...
I really hope our recruitment team have pulled the contract offer...

LODGE READY TO RUMBLE

One of the NRL’s most controversial characters, Matt Lodge, is ready to step into the boxing ring.

Sport Confidential can reveal Lodge has been approached to make his professional boxing debut against his own teammate, Manly prop Josh Aloiai.

Matt Lodge could be set for a move from the footy field to the boxing ring.

Tim Tszyu’s promoters No Limit are putting together an NRL Fight Night, slated for November 29, and Lodge shapes as the headline act on a card that could also include Curtis Scott.

Lodge has flirted with the fight game for some time.

Two years ago, he was in talks to fight and while that fight never came to fruition, the 118kg prop has always been keen to throw down.

Now he will get his chance against Aloiai, who is rated a handy fighter, winning his first fight in 2017 with a savage second-round knockout.

Maybe if the fight is in a house against women and kids he will go alright.

No Limit Boxing really have degraded boxing in Australia, IMO. Mostly like a circus sideshow now.

And we must be so strict on head-knocks, but let our footy players do boxing, f#ck me am I missing something????
