No problem with Manly offering $150K and standing firm… just wish that’s what we did with the fake a$$ preacher too.
The reality is that Lodge hasn't put enough matches together in a season to show that he's worth much more than $150k. Other clubs obviously think so too, otherwise he'd have already signed elsewhere.
I think he adds value but because of his history with injuries I don't think you can pay him a top 17, or even top 25, salary.
I'd be quite happy to give him $150K total for two years instead of just for one year.It was said we only offered him a one year contract and that the sticking point is he wanted two years. Well Looks like Manly are happy to give him his longer duration, But the trade off for less dollars than if he signs on for one year.
Not sure it works like that. Players typically want an extra year because it’s another year of secured payment, not another year to get bashed up. Unless there is a financial incentive, an extra year is useless to him. He could take 300k over one year and go looking for a new deal somewhere else and he’d be in the same position; it’s not logical. It was said we only offered him a one year contract and that the sticking point is he wanted two years. Well Looks like Manly are happy to give him his longer duration, But the trade off for less dollars than if he signs on for one year.
Might be 150k with incentives.I find the story going around that we offered him 150k per year BS.
Minimum salary for 2025 is 135k and 140k in 2026.
Thinking we have offered Lodge 10% above the minimum is ludicrous, unless we are doing a Gifty and making a Claytons offer..
Probably add another 100k.
There was an Aussie darts player who looked to be the next big thing and have the world at his feet but a few incidents he had meant they refused to give him a visa and he went completely off the railsPotentially true!!!!
I don’t understand this. Seibold must think he is one of the 2 best props at the club given he started in the semis, but other players in the same position are paid a lot more???Agreed & I think fair enough too.
Yeah I agree, this adds to how puzzling the Aloiai extension is. Beyond me why we rushed to extend him even though he still has a year left on his contract.I don’t understand this. Seibold must think he is one of the 2 best props at the club given he started in the semis, but other players in the same position are paid a lot more???
He doesnt care now that he got his extension, he doesnt have to worry about toll fee,s anymore, so he is living the dreamI was far from impressed with Aloiai in 2024
Hardly made a dent in attack
The odd big tackle accompanied by many lazy grabbing efforts
Always on he ground as the opposition play the ball
Hands not great and offers no offload or quick play the ball
I think along with Jake, 2 way overpaid forwards.....
I mean he was there for intimidation. Yet he was hugely ineffective. That sealed his fate.I don’t understand this. Seibold must think he is one of the 2 best props at the club given he started in the semis, but other players in the same position are paid a lot more???
My biggest conspiracy theory, is that the club has already signed someone else with what's left of Schuster's money, and the NRL, or the club itself, has ensured the media stay quiet about it. This would explain why we are trying to "make room". Presumably this would either be to prevent media distraction from the GF, or because exact terms haven't been reached yet, or some other club reason. But this bit about Manly talking about trying to make room for Lodge, seems a little interesting.
speaking recently to the media, (Lodge) explained: “It’s up in the air (where I end up) because I am not signed and the club (Manly) was talking about trying to make some room. I love it here. (But)
You could be right. Its gone all quiet on the RCG front at the moment so you just never knowMy biggest conspiracy theory, is that the club has already signed someone else with what's left of Schuster's money, and the NRL, or the club itself, has ensured the media stay quiet about it. We haven't had much in the way of a media leak this year from what I can recall. No more Tartak/Fulton might make this a possibility. Anyone know who RCG's agent is?
What's more, is that someone on here did the run down on who we have let go, and we should have something like 700-900k free or so in the cap. The Dogs being over a million under the cap this year is such BS. We surely have a comparatively good spend available for next season, with possibly more on the way.
The only possible reason would be if it was a player still involved in the comp... which would probably be too good to be true! There’s no reason Manly would hold off announcing something because the GF is coming up. It’s not the kind of news that brings the game into disrepute or sends the media into a spin. It would be interesting for Manly fans and the rest of the game would move on very quickly…not to mention Manly have no vested interest in the GF and there are no restraints on media releases.
