I'm kinda in the 50 50 camp on Lodge tbh. Makes you think the club might have a big forward signing all ready to be unveiled.
Got to be a Shark or two on the loose as they are going to have to give a big raise to their newly starring halfback. Maybe a secondrower?

It’s pretty much right there for a full time top 30 player I think. Crazy considering we would be paying this much for aitasi james , Ben Condon etc. makes me think that lodge probably hasn’t been the most valuable commodity as far as culture goes. He seems like a bit of an odd bloke.
The only two games where we were unashamedly flogged, he played, and he started in them. I don't think he's a great influence. His only two wins since he returned were against a tiny Bulldogs pack. Personally I think he is completely overrated by many on here.

Oh no I agree, losing JWH was probably our biggest ever loss of one of our juniors - well, our under 20's at least.
Yes, Jughead was a big loss from our roster of imports. Unless Auckland’s rugby juniors’ competition is now a part of the MWDRLFC.;)

I think he was playing in Brisbane, when Manly first signed him.

Not a huge loss I don’t think but I do think he gave our middles a bit of much needed mongrel. We still need a big body with a ‘bad’ attitude. Ola started to show some mongrel towards the end of this season but he’s out on the edge. Need someone like a NAS, JWH or Lenui. A bit loose and a bit scary. I hear Leo Thompson might be exiting Newcastle? He might fit the bill.

Agreed on Lodge and good call on Leo Thompson. He would be a perfect fit to our middles. Not sure why Knights would let him go??

Shame that he could not regularly show some of his better form from earlier on in his Manly stint and apart from the late season Bulldog "s game , a bit on the ordinary or ineffectual side .
Probably will revert to Sipley and be surprised if Jake does not play primarily as a prop next season .
Alioa "s form has been fairly problematic in recent times as well and taking into account naturally his probably still not insignificant cap value .
Probably could largely manage with a prop rotation of Tent , Jake , Bully and Sipley if Alioai 's form keeps flatlining but then unfortunately the drag on the cap for an underperforming player
Then the Tevaga addition to take into account
Where to best utilize Brown could be another concern let alone the requirement to come up with a decent 13 who can lift the tempo there a bit from the get go .
Maybe with Condon possibly moving on could free up a bit more coin but doubt any big name forward signing on the horizon

Matt Lodge is on the lookout for his sixth NRL club with the former Broncos prop set to sever ties with Manly despite a $300,000 offer.

Sport Confidential can reveal Lodge’s career at Brookvale is all but over after struggling to strike a deal with the Sea Eagles.

Matt Lodge’s time at Manly appears to be over.

Manly coach and former Broncos mentor Anthony Seibold wants to keep Lodge at the club.

Sea Eagles bosses have tabled a two-year deal worth around $150,000 a season, but Lodge is unlikely to agree terms as he weighs up other options.

Since his NRL debut in 2014, Lodge has had stints at Wests Tigers, Brisbane, the Warriors, Sydney Roosters and Manly but only ever found some stability at the Broncos, with whom he played 65 games.

At only 29, the hulking prop could play NRL for another five seasons and has been linked with a move to the Dragons.

Lodge has also been linked with the Knights, where his father-in-law Peter O’Sullivan is recruitment chief, but it’s understood the controversial enforcer won’t be going to Newcastle.
😊

Pretty damn happy with our recruitment department lately...

Brooks signed - like
Talau signed - liked, then hated, now like again
Josh gone - like
Fainus gone - like
Simpkins signed - like
Lawnton gone - like (only because he is an injury liability)
Tevaga signed - like
Lodge signed - did not like but made sense on minimum coin
Lodge gone (instead of a big contract upgrade) - like

It sounds like we low-balled Lodge. $150,000 a season is less than his value. Illawarra will probably pounce. Flanagan likes these moneyball players.

News of the year, got offered much more than he deserves but the clown continues to think he is hard done by

Lodge did not deliver consistently for our club, to be fair he was hampered by injuries which made it difficult for him.

I would rather invest in younger players as we do have some depth in our front row.

Our Club made Lodge the right offer
Lodge was far from the Monster performance we all expected against the Roosters to get a Monstrous contract from us
We wish him and his family all the best
