is it a mistake to keep Lewis?

I haven't posted for ages but after going to the game last night I have to say Lewis Brown is one of the worst buys Manly has ever made. I can't believe someone who can't tackle and has no pace or ball skills could play first grade let alone 11 internationals for NZ! Leary was much better in his short stint, so if they want a utility I would much prefer him. However, as Barrett was the one who brought him over from Penrith, I doubt he will have the fortitude to drop him.

Still don't see why we let T-Red go. The only thing Brown offers over T-Red is he can fill in at hooker. If we needed to replace our hooker at any stage, Ferris could do the job and put T-Red on an edge. As to the other two positions Brown apparently covers, 2nd row and centre, T-Red easily offered more than Brown at either spot.

Given that T-Red is gone, in a full strength team, Leary can do as good a job, if not better than Brown as a 14.

As a bench utility covering back row hooker and centre I can cop Brown

Not as a starter

We were sold a lemon.
You might be onto something, NYE?

Brown is the whipping boy this year, clearly.
But I'm pretty sure it was Brown's desperation that caused Joe Burgess to drop the ball. (A bit.)
And that play may just have been the winning play for us last night!

Brown got his butt (and ours) saved a few times tonight. Joe Burgess' dropped balls for one, and the other was Killer and Ferris covering for him in defence. Sure he 'made' 29 tackles and only missed 4, but if not for Killer and Ferris he would have made about 5 and missed 28.

'Made' 29 tackles?

They weren't tackles. The Souths' players fell on the ground and Lewis Brown had to be continuously reminded to drop on top of them. There was no actual tackling involved.

Don't blame Lewis Brown. The Souths' players didn't fall over in front of him enough and he wasn't reminded to drop on top of them enough.

Plus, he had no idea where he was. The whole notion of rugby league has not yet formed in his head.

Let's face it, we've got him for two more years so get used to it.

Hopefully he's just that utility you park in Reggies to use when you have injuries ( not that's more than optimistic but I had to say it).

I didn't vote , as we are stuck with him!!
