They say you always get something out of a loss, personally I don't find much good out of it, though you can reflect on where the opposition exposed your defence....
Regardless of Anderson scoring 10 tries and Howarth burning Garrick 2nd half, the real leaks started centrally....and who better to expose this area than the cunning, ultra talented Harry Grant ?
I found when whips were cracking and the game was "on the line", they were FAR quicker around that ruck and the early tries pretty much showed this clearly....could not match them for speed of play the ball, line speed and /or marker defence to shut off momentum and it was a blitz off fast rolling momentum and I feel this was by far the biggest difference on Sunday.
The late surge when Storm turned off the switch and the money ball shift plays out wide from Storm were not the major factors of this game.
It was the lack of mobility in the middle, in both attack and defence....to add 1 or 2 quicks in the Cam Murray, Preston type moulds would be a welcome addition and I hate to sound negative, but this flaw in the Manly game will be a blueprint that noone can expose better than Melbourne, but 100% Sharks will come out straight through those mids with Cam McGuiness, AFB and co blowing up that middle and not convinced Manly have the players to control it ?
Love to be proven wrong and I expect a far better showing this week, but the reality is we lack speed and agility through the middle 3rd and Brailey though no Grant, will have his players attacking it all day and even with a gutsy showing will be hard to contain.
What would really make me sick is if Manly play Hynes back into form and that's all we hear from these ridiculous commentary teams (sound down is defs an option)
Anyways back to the thread, really need that extra mobility and if only we could bring back Choc Watmough and BK, I reckon we would give anyone a good run....and I hope moving forward Manly have a look at this....maybe even a chance on Navale and is that Patolo almost due for a run, both at least have leg speed and mobility....
