I don't mind at all the strategy of longer deals with lower per-year value. As long as it's not Saab... It's much better than the massive long term back-ended deals we were once known for.

Kobe Hetherington has reneged on a deal with the Broncos after being given permission by Brisbane to ink a long-term contract with Manly.
This masthead can reveal the Broncos have given Hetherington their blessing to join the Sea Eagles at season’s end in the lead up to Sunday’s finals opener against the Raiders.
Hetherington last month inked a 12-month extension with the Broncos for 2026 in his quest to unseat Pat Carrigan as Brisbane’s starting lock.
But the son of Queensland Origin legend Jason Hetherington will be in Sea Eagles colours next year after agreeing to terms on a four-year deal until the end of 2029.
Hetherington’s agent Chris Haddad confirmed the hard-hitting forward will depart the Broncos at season’s end after striking a release to link with the Sea Eagles.
“Kobe had agreed to terms with Brisbane but because his partner has a good job in Sydney, the Broncos were very understanding of his personal situation,” Haddad said.
“We had formally signed with Brisbane, we did agree to terms and they were good enough to let Kobe go.
“It’s a four-year deal from Manly, there’s a lot more security than what he had at the Broncos so it’s a good move for Kobe.”
