I thought Keppie 10 in the bin was obviously turning point. Have to say, beside that he was playing very well, big strong defence.

Funa at 5/8 was a disaster.

Team plays so much better with another point of attack at 5/8.

Thought we were not too bad with players out, backing up from last week, 12 players on field for 60 mins, diabolical ref.

Will will be back. Worried about Marty and Keppie coping big suspensions. Cannot afford more players in side line

Funa did well in defence playing out of position, he was never going to lead the attack.

DCE for a senior player had a bad game along with Turbo who was very quiet.

The Knights were desperate for a win and it showed. They also had the officials onside. If one or two of the 40/20's that DCE went for had bounced slightly right he would have been a hero, but as usual some on here choose to bash him...his play to set up Parkers try was phenomenal..but you know, he needs to be better on the back of a decimated forward pack..

Teams lose, we didn't play well and got shafted by the ref, earlier in the year we lose this by 30. Happy for the bye this week.

Turbo has put a mountain of effort today and clocked up serious km's.

This is what happens when our go forward sets are not saved by Tom and we get into a grind of set for set---we can easily bring teams back into play especially when our ball movement is reduced by lacking a 5/8.

Newcastle doubled up their efforts on reducing Toms impact like most clubs would and did well in this regard.

Lawton was really good, some good direct hitups and some great defensive efforts.

Yes Keppie is over aggressive but at least he tries to spark and lead, Paseka has gone missing in this regard. Taupau's impact is better off the bench but we are down on troops of starting quality.(might still be worth the risk coming off the bench against teams of Newcastle's quality.

Tom's return from injury has been a joy and inspiration to watch, his efforts in every game is like a man on a mission to repay the club for the amount of time he has been out of play.(some of his effort plays today that required long running distances was incredible to watch)

Tom has announced himself as the next captain without a doubt.
Lawton was our best today, good signing by the club a real doer.

imho we lost because

Lack of patience DCE
Funa is no 5/8
Keppies brain explosion changed the game
Some generally dumb play ie Marty offload
And the most one sided refereeing ever seen. That **** Cummins could be the one that the old drunk rothtool was referring to who had a gambling problem
If there was ever a game to be investigated it’s this one disgusting one sided blatantly biased example hiw not to officiate a game
PVL u cannot be serious after that appalling effort
That will really bring the mommies and there sons back to the game ,,not , what with one side being penalised for high tackles the other side free to go and exploit every dirty trick in the book
Disgusted

Yes the refereeing was sh!te but we could have overcome this.

We were poor in a lot of areas.

On a positive note, Harper and Parker were great in defence and Lawton showed plenty to suggest he was an astute buy. The Keppie sin-binning really cost us. You can go down to 12 but if it's after 30 minutes of football, it's always going to be harder to hold on.

Just really disappointed that we could lose to a side that ordinary.

We tested their line quite a few times but the Knights held pretty firm. Not saying we would have won but it would have been interesting to see what impact Schuster might have made testing their defence.

That was a really bad game from us. Yes the refereeing was atrocious, and gave us no real chance of winning that game. Funa was defintely the wrong choice at five eight. We played extremely dumb football. Our attack was clunky and our defence was pretty woeful as well. We had a lot of players out. Keppie had his worst game all year. Tom made no impact. DCE was off his game again etc etc etc These are all reasonably valid excuses (some more than others) for what we saw tonight. BUT how important is Schuster to us right now? Thoughts.
We played a poor game with penalties & most calls going Newcastle’s way but I thought our defence was pretty good. With the leg up Newcastle had they should have scored a lot more points. Many times when on a roll we got done by Cummins. How many stoppages for supposedly injured Knights players at the most opportune times whilst we were on attack hence stopping our momentum. Their tries coming when we were reduced to 12…..our handling was poor & discipline out the door. We still had chances & really should have put them away.

I look at it a different way - no 5/8 for the entire game and that showed big time, 2 forwards on the bench and 1 is out with a broken jaw, 2 sin bins, 3 players saving themselves for Origin. This was a banana skin game and we slipped.

Des probably went with what he thought would be as little disruption as possible, but in hindsight (perfect as it is), Croker should have been the 5/8, Lawton the hooker, Marty in the back row with Keppie and Sips starting at prop with Funa on the bench.

With a decent 5/8 option we’d have won. With Schuster we’d have won by plenty. With Foran we’d have won by plenty. No big deal…. The troops will be back after the bye & we’ll be back to our winning ways.

Funa was rubbish sorry. Out of position yes but he offered nothing.

I'm still trying to work out what he offers. He scored a good try off Tom against Canberra by running a smart line but that's about the extent of it.

And talk about SLOW......You could time him with a calendar.
