Klemmer

And if Jesse Bromwich ain’t starting for NZ at the end of this year I’ll have some of that stuff you are smoking Woodsie. Best prop in the world.

The 1 thing for sure is Klemmer would make any NRL team easily.
The problem of start or come off the bench would work itself out, would add extra toughness in a Manly pack that already has size but at times lacks aggression.
Thought Klemmer had slid off the radar as the Dogs have become a joke, but watching him in 2018 is back to that extra fight in the tackle and direct running, plus belting them in defence.
Would do backflips if Manly got him, but a pipe dream under the current salary cap conditions....maybe Roosters will add him with Creighton after they have a go at Taumoulolo.

You may be right. Barrett may do it and that’s why you and I differ on his coaching ability .
Any coach who picks a long term Kangaroo starting prop on the bench with lesser credentialed but great impact players like AFB as a starter is a fool.

You pick players where they are suited.Particularly guys who have walked the walk like Klemmer has.Especially when they cost 700k.

Sorry .... I wasn't aware of the facts .... if I had known that anybody that disagreed with you must be a fool ..... I would have said you were correct from the beginning ....

PSS Klemmer spend most of last year coming off the bench at Doggies ..... and his current form would see him behind Lane ....

Good point .... but then I would rate Jesse well ahead of Klemmer too ...

I didn’t say you were a fool Woodsie. You said you think Barrett would pick him, not that you would.

What I DID say is that Klemmer is starting prop for NSW and had generally been regarded as our best forward in origin for the last couple of years.

If that’s not a good enough resume to get him a starting spot at a club who have been notoriously slow to start matches and been given some absolute floggings recently then I’m missing something. And as good as Marty and AFB are ( two of my favourites) a lot of times we have struggled early because of penalties(AFB) and dropped balls (Marty). And who pays 700 or 800k for a bench player!

Klemmer brings safe steel early. We need that.

No for me. Let’s worry about keeping Marty, walker, suli etc. I think he would be overpriced, especially if the interchanges hey culled. I’d take Marty any day.

According to:

https://www.zerotackle.com/rugby-league/teams/manly-sea-eagles/

We have the following players off contract at the end of the year:

And while I love them all dearly the priorities would have to be Api, Lane, Tangles, Suli, Siro, Kelly with ? marks on Uate and Gosiewski ... the remainder may add up to Klemmer for three years.
The problem with this list of players off contract, is that there isn't that much money there. Of the players that we expect to go, Brown is on up to $500k, the rest of the "thanks for your service" will be pretty much on basic money. Each one gone has to be replaced with at least a name of basic money. So if Brown is replaced with a key signing, his money and some of Nate Miles $ will go there with the remainder on possible small upgrades for Kelly, Lane, Api etc.

The problem is no one has any idea of what money players are on or what is against the cap

Take DCE - the actual amount and % towards the cap changes dependent on who is posting the info.

I think we should get Klemmer in for Lussick and Cleary in for Croker. Then have a red hot go at luring Ponga (who I have a feeling may want to leave the Knights on compassionate grounds) with the cap space we have freed up.

Oh wait, we're not the Roosters!

Shhhhh stop giving politis ideas.

Massive lols at anyone using Aust or SOO selection as some sort of point that one player is better than another.

Rep side selections are the biggest laugh around, and have been for years.

And to anyone that wishes to disagree, I give you the NSW backline shoe-horned with 5 fullbacks forever, with a spare fullback on the bench, as captain no less, for at least 1 game......while top quality wingers and centers are crying out for a gig.

Afb is a better player though. He is right now and prob will be in the future too

As much as klemmer would be handy he's probably not worth the coin that he would be demanding. I'm happy with our pack as long as they stay fit and healthy.

If money was no option (i.e., if we were the Roosters), I'd take him in heartbeat. He's cut the niggle out of his game in the last few years and has become an excellent frontrower. The bonus is he seems to work really well with Jake, and Jake and Tom both vouch for him as a bloke. If he's good enough for Jake, he's good enough for me. That said, I wouldn't want to lose either Marty or AFB to accommodate him.

Klemmer is over rated for mine. Certainly wouldn't swap Marty For him. Shannon Boyd strikes me as being way more value then Klem.
