What's wrong with ponce punch? Or bitch attack, fag hit anyone (insert obligatory explanation that fag no longer refers to homosexuals)? It sounds awful to say plus the Telegraph coined the term

Yes they are cowards but it hits the ear wrong like 'making a porn' or 'throwing a catch',it's almost as sinful grammatically as 'for mine',you sound as smart as Mark Geyer using it

Plus every time it's used a telegraph writer is born

Has this been swept under the carpet or was it a non event. Anyone know for sure

This was definitely an event of life changing proportion. Connor, playing for the Knights, was 'one punched' and rendered unconscious. He sustained a broken eye socket and choroidal rupture amongst other damage to his eye. The offender has been charged with a Grade 5 Striking offence and has pleaded guilty. Unfortunately there is obstruction in the official video footage but the intent was clear however the blow was obscured. NSW Rugby League had no choice but to suspend the attacker for only 3 weeks. If anyone from the day has footage of the incident please contact me direct as this is a close family friend who is fighting for his sight. [email protected]

I certainly hope someone can help. Very ordinary act on the part of the bloke who threw the punch: 3 weeks seems to be an extremely light penalty given that guys get the same or more for a shoulder charge!

I had an eye socket broken once on the field in a similar manner. It's not fun..

Sorry to hear about Connor's injuries Mandy. The player that king hit Connor is not fit to pull on the Manly jersey, there needs to be bigger repercussions for him than a 3 week slap on the wrist. He should be cut from the squad and undergo some anger management counselling.

Should have his parents dog shotted in front of him so he can feel whatever happens to these unfit parents is all his own fault

It should be life in jail for attempted murder at the very least

I agree. I would be taking this a lot further as it's a serious, with the intent to cause harm, you're are talking about a kid's future here and his quality of everyday life. Just disgraceful, the stress with the family etc. Thinking of Connor and I hope he gets better very quickly

Any news on the young lad Mandy? Hope he is well

If it's as bad as you say then isn't police action an option? Least then witness statements are used to get a result not just video footage

Hi Mandy, This is an assault and its serious when you are talking about a young kid who could lose his sight and render him from future work and general quality of life. If it was done deliberately by some of the reports it was, then further action should be taken.

These trials are always filmed by the organisers anyway, the coaches ( clubs ) then usually get a copy of the games. If the Police get involved they will certainly take control of the matter, they will obtain videos, witnesses etc and the NRL will then go by what the Police instruct.
Wishing Connor all the very best and I hope he makes a speedy recovery
