Kaeo Weekes

Love it!
So does that mean that the same team (or coach or player) will win the comp every year forever?! That has never happened (although it’s felt that way for the last four years) so does that mean that everyone is actually a loser?
Not every one is a loser feathered friend
Losers are the ones that can not find a way to win
I hope that helps ? 🙂

In my opinion, not logically.

The Raiders are not a financially struggling club. Ricky has been there for 11 seasons and made the finals 5 times. Before he was their coach, they'd made the finals 20 times in 32 seasons, so his strike rate is statistically lower than their average. Whether his players like him or vice versa is not really relevant.

If the Raiders are happy with his coaching record, then that's fine by me. But given that record, it doesn't make sense that some people want him here. He has also earned a wooden spoon in 2013, and his rate of making finals both at his current club and over the course of his NRL coaching career, is lower than our current coach (who quite a few here want replaced).

For what it is worth, I didn't initially want Seibold here, but the relationship between Des and the club was demonstrably no longer workable. Flanagan was still banned, and there were no other viable available coaches who were apparently willing to coach here. We could have gambled on another rookie coach, but that didn't work out too well for us last time. So here we are.

He inherited a squad that only made the finals twice in the previous 4 years, and once in the 4 years before that. Several expensive players were signed long-term, which has so far prevented to him building the exact squad that he wants. He has, so far, improved the squad year-on-year, so at this point I don't think there is any reason he should be replaced. But I will re-assess my opinion again at the end of this season.
Basically we are just having some fun haha he won't be our coach but I'd have him over spoonbold in a heartbeat. He's getting better and better as a head coach. He's done well with the young players and I just love his passion

Yee, his running game is excellent.
Where did u expect him to play, fullback?

One thing Manly has been blessed with is fullbacks. Tommy, Koula, Lehi.
And you expect Weekes to be playing as well for Manly.

His defence is improving, but still poor.

I expect us not to kill him and his confidence playing 5/8 against a red hot Panthers.

We did him a lot more harm than good, that's my point.

Where did I say I still expected him to be playing here?

Hindsight is a wonderful tool though.

We played him in 6 different positions and expected him to be a superstar in each of those games without giving him a proper chance.

You have a player that can score tries like he can then you fit him in. Very poor shortsightedness by the manly coaching staff.

Remind me again why we thought playing this guy at 5/8 vs the table topping Panthers was a good idea?

Like Gutherson before Barrett sent him packing, Weekes was touted as a possible long term 5/8 at Manly until Seibold came along. About one year later, Weekes was a Raider, we'd signed Luke Brooks and given Jake Arthur an extension that has led to nowhere.

We're not saying that Weekes would have been the long term solution and its not about who he'd replace in the current side. Its just been short sighted around the club for the past decade or so where talented juniors have been let go in order in favour of signing has been's and journeymen never will be's.

And I will add that a lot of it comes back to tying up not much shy of about 30-40% of the cap in just 3 or 4 players. We haven't been able to afford to keep some while being forced to sign bargain basement offcuts.

Always have loved Weekes as a player but it’s pretty obvious he beats up on the bottom teams & goes missing against the elite. Same type of player as Matt Dufty was. The good teams purposely target him because he is error prone & has bad defence but no one ever seems to mention those games on here.

With regards to Weekes, we have signed Brooks, Cooper Johns and Arthur which has amounted to nothing. Had we kept Weekes , it would have cost the club nothing and we could have bought a decent Forward.

Just remember he's not on the big money, so why do you expect him to perform miracles. What you just described could also apply to Turbo.

This logic simply does not work anymore.

Players know what they are worth and they will go where they can get it, even if it means stirring up s**t behind the scenes to agitate for an early release from their contract.

You may, if you are very lucky, get to keep a player on unders for a year, or two max, if they are performing at a higher level than their current pay packet.
