Kaeo Weekes

As coach he has made the finals series 9 times in his 21 seasons as an NRL coach... and has only made the finals 6 times in the past 20 years.

To me it doesn't make sense that anyone here is entertaining the thought of having him here.
Yeah but he gives a great press conference. (and never proud of his players unless they win) 🤷‍♂️

Yep Chevy Stewart killing it, Trey Mooney has burst through as expected.

Did Puru leave to go to the Sharks. There were wraps on that kid.
I actually think Trey's development has been underwhelming and would like Manly to try and sign him. He's originally from Sydney and has the talent to really make something of the NRL. He'd be a great buy for us, but he's struggling to gain FG momentum in Canberra. He gets opportunities and quickly find his way back to NSW Cup.

I'm enjoying the Raiders story so far this year. They're a team with passion and character. I enjoy Sticky's antics and I like the way he backed Weekes after some pretty terrible performances under the high ball early in the season. But I don't want him to coach Manly, all the same.

I'm really happy to see Weekes performing well but also don't mind that he is not with us. I think fullback is his position and we have Tom and Lehi, who are better. Weekes is no centre or winger or 5/8, so best of luck to him. Last night was probably his best game in FG and not just because of the highlight reels. He was very busy and finally seemed to carry the ball without being dominated.

Yeah I'm surprised he re-signed, I was advocating us chasing him.

Talented player but hard to break through in that pack.

He has never won the spoon though
It also does not make sense how anyone entertained the thought of having a spoon coach here

Because he's a good coach and better than what we have plus he's the most passionate coach I've seen and loves his players and they love him. Does that make sense? Or do you prefer spoonbold

Weekes development looks better at caberra. You can see he has gifts or weapons , like savage

But the green machines on field culture, of dealing with there growth blunders is much better than manlys who drop there heads, and a simple blunder turns into a 20 point turnaround and the scapegoat, the much maligned cousin of the “goat photo” is sacrificed

Weekes would have been scapegoat on toast at manly weekes ago ,

Don "t think that there was any doubt about Weekes "s individual footy ability , just his capacity to assert himself to best effect and sometimes more comfortable under the high ball .
Sometimes also a player of his type just needs the opportunity to gradually gain confidence and fit in and maybe over time to a certain style and pattern of play and looks like at the Raiders , has essentially succeeded there in the main

Manly V Canberra round 4 this year says hi
Hi to you too feathered friend
I hope you are well in your Eagle nest

Manly v Canberra round 4 ?
Let us put round 4 into clear perspective ....
What is more significant in the overall performance of both teams
Raiders running second in the comp with out their 2 bonus bye points
Or Manly with their 2 bonus points bye propped up to 7th place ?

The season of course has lots of twists and turns
and perhaps Seibold can turn things around ?

Hello feathered friend ! I think you may be mistaken again because I'm fairly sure Ricky Stuart coached Parramatta to a wooden spoon in 2013. Before walking out mid contract to coach Canberra.
Thank you . I stand corrected feathered friend
Ricky did manage a spoon in 2013 at Parra
No excuses !
Since then he has made a Grand final losing to the storm by 2 points
Again No Excuses !
Lets see if he can redeem him self this season as he has the raiders rocketing up the premiership winning ladder

Sorry Bozo, I need to correct you.
Raiders lost the GF 14 - 8 to Roosters in 2019.
Remember the dodgy 6 again call for the Raiders that was reversed. That changed the game & Roosters scored shortly after.

My apologies and thanks for correcting me
No excuses on behalf of me making mistakes 🙂

I got this mixed up with 2016 when the Canberra went on to fall short of a grand final appearance losing to Melbourne 14–12.

I remember now the 6 again call from the raiders that was reversed
No Excuses though and i will tell you why ..
The raiders had no control of reversing that refs decision
But they had Many Lost opportunities during the game that they could have reversed by making better decisions
No Excuses
Winners Will Always be Winners because they Always find a Way to Win

Love it!
So does that mean that the same team (or coach or player) will win the comp every year forever?! That has never happened (although it’s felt that way for the last four years) so does that mean that everyone is actually a loser?

Because he's a good coach and better than what we have plus he's the most passionate coach I've seen and loves his players and they love him. Does that make sense?

In my opinion, not logically.

The Raiders are not a financially struggling club. Ricky has been there for 11 seasons and made the finals 5 times. Before he was their coach, they'd made the finals 20 times in 32 seasons, so his strike rate is statistically lower than their average. Whether his players like him or vice versa is not really relevant.

If the Raiders are happy with his coaching record, then that's fine by me. But given that record, it doesn't make sense that some people want him here. He has also earned a wooden spoon in 2013, and his rate of making finals both at his current club and over the course of his NRL coaching career, is lower than our current coach (who quite a few here want replaced).

Or do you prefer spoonbold

For what it is worth, I didn't initially want Seibold here, but the relationship between Des and the club was demonstrably no longer workable. Flanagan was still banned, and there were no other viable available coaches who were apparently willing to coach here. We could have gambled on another rookie coach, but that didn't work out too well for us last time. So here we are.

He inherited a squad that only made the finals twice in the previous 4 years, and once in the 4 years before that. Several expensive players were signed long-term, which has so far prevented to him building the exact squad that he wants. He has, so far, improved the squad year-on-year, so at this point I don't think there is any reason he should be replaced. But I will re-assess my opinion again at the end of this season.
