JWH

It is a few years to late I feel he is way past his best.
True although he's better than.. well no one. We literally don't have a starting prop for next season and Taupau needs some extra assistance up the middle as it is. If he can be aggressive then he may just add the grunt we need up-front to go all the way (and to have 80 minute performances). Lawrence has been absolutely outstanding for us over the years although he isn't such a big body and often (although always hitting and sticking) loses the tackles. I reckon Lawrence would be best suited at second-row for us this year although we have lacked another quality starting prop so had to use him there.

JWH has been amongst the best forwards in the last decade. Why Manly let him go back in the day is anyone's guess. I hate him playing against us, but would welcome him back in a heartbeat.
We never 'let' him go, just simply couldn't compete with what was offered to him, also heard a whisper at the time there was a nice new motorbike thrown in on top too

He's only 28 at the moment and has not played a lot in the last couple of years due to injury (if i recall correctly?). Hence he may have slightly more longevity than you may think. Id have him at the right price. No overs

2 Consecutive years of ACLs - no use to Manly if he lives in rehab :shake:

JARED Waerea-Hargreaves may be among the most feared forwards in the NRL but the Sydney Roosters enforcer is still plagued by doubt.

Doubts on if his knee will fail him again. Waerea-Hargreaves is still worried about the knee injury which ended his 2015 season prematurely and plagued his 2016 year.

I reckon he's been good though and certainly worth the money, sure we don't want to pay overs on him although I'd be bloody happy if we signed him. He has injuries, although i think it is more of a coincidence that he has had two acl injuries, he's running fine and still has enough confidence to make bruising tackles & runs. If we can get him at a good price he will be a huge signing, especially seeing we don't have another starting prop at the club (to start with Taupau)

Yeah, he'd only played a handful of games for us and Uncle Nick came in with an offer too good to refuse. I was devastated to see him go at the time because it was pretty obvious he'd end up an excellent player (although it took a few more years for him to settle down than I expected). His last game for us was a semi-final against the Storm where we got flogged but he stood out like a beacon in a badly-beaten forward pack. Wished he'd played his best years with us.

He is nothing like he was.

I watch him take a few hit ups this year, then strolls slowly back with hand on hips.:tmi:

His fire left when he settled down and had his child, then sat out 2015 with his first ACL 😎

JWH's contract would need to be subsidized by the Rorters for him to be of any value to another Club

As long as we are getting the band together Nate Myles, David Gower, Tony Williams and Josh Starling are all available next season too

Although that's true he'd still be a huge help to taupau and Id still a great forward. I'd have him back in a heartbeat, he's a big improvement to Myles if we can get him anywhere near myles's money

Ahh right. I didnt know what the injury issues were...

It depends what the injury was. I dont think he snapped his ACL 2 years in a row..? Was it a snap then a strain? I think i would have heard about it if it was 2 x snaps within 2 years. In any case, that puts some doubt on it. Might be too risky but might be worth a punt at a cut price..

Slightly off topic but I think the Tigers have done exceptionally well replacing Woods by bringing in Mautalino ( who has been good in a side performing terribly) and Packer. Why we didn't weigh in with a decent offer there I don't know. Surely we would have been a better proposition that the Tigers. And the knights snared Moga from the Broncos another player I would have chased hard. If we landed Packer and Moga and jagged a decent backrower we would have had a very dangerous football side. With so much free cap I don't understand us going after Tagatese and Hoffman ( if it is in fact us). I can only assume the football department are working behind the scenes and a couple of nice signings will be headed our way.

He is signed with the Chooks until 2020.

Perhaps the chooks are over the 2018 cap and need to rid of some players to fit in teddy, maybe not. I'm not sure but contracts, rather sadly, mean almost nothing anymore

Yeah Salary cap could be an issue for them and they need to make cap space. Although Politis must of run out of paper bags for the chooks to have issues.

Its a big yes from me. Maria wil bring alot of aggression to the forward back and we need that.

Of course, I doubt this is true.

Probably a matter of timing and other priorities in Manly "s case and with some of these previous prospective signings that you have referred to . The club was apparently still in discussions and still keen to re sign B J Lawrence but for only one more season , when other options may have been still available and then had already signed Sipley and Paseka . Same with players like Moga during the club"s interest during the possible Roberts signing saga . Tagatese may be worth considering for one season but Hoffman , hardly recommended . I thought that in J W H. " s case that Manly did not want to let him go in 2009 but already had Kite , Perry and Jason king as their starting props at the time and then could only offer J W H basically back up prop value. Other clubs including the Roosters then simply offered him more money and with a starting prop opportunity and of course once he eventually became established there , they found their typical ways and means to keep him there . Seems a bit of a problematical consideration for any Manly return by him with his injury concerns these days though.
