Juniors Discussion Thread

I'm pretty sure he played on the right again, definitely in defence, the highlights show him on the right when they kept putting the grubber kicks in behind the line, but I liked the fact he was popping up on both sides in attack. Seems he has been given the licence now to roam.
Yeh he did defend on the right but played on the left with the ball, had a solid game in a defeated team.

That was a frustrating match to watch. Dominated early. I'm not sure if the regular Fullback Casswell was injured, but our back 3 struggled, particularly in the second half. We struggled to diffuse all their second-half kicks, which gifted them 5 tries. It seemed our Fullback was always out of position.

As already mentioned, it was pretty much a 2 man show, Simi skittling defenders and Large unstoppable every time he ran the ball.

But you can't win football games when you keep making silly errors and hand the opposition field position and quality ball time after time.

The highlights from our game from about the 1-minute mark.
Caswell was dropped, the club has largely gone after unknowns recruitment wise for the wingers/fullbacks this year.
I think Talakai and Askew are more experienced at centre than wing.

hi Joe, the unknowns as in out of area? It seems if you take out Large and Laifai this team will really struggle?
Unknown as guys from the CC etc ..as having not played in Matthews or Ball etc....so you don't know how they will go.
Don't know about a 2 man team Daz,Muagututia is injured at 9,Green at lock is out,Hugo played in the trial,Walsh is not playing.
Munn,Paulo and Turner are good players in the forwards,O'Keefe and Couzens are good in the centres,Alexander,Melrose,Davies are good in the halves.
Unfortunately Caswell has not kicked on and we have probably focussed a lot on bringing in halves and neglected the back 3 in this Ball side.

Great, thanks mate as always. I really like the highlights of the Dogs hooker we got. Now with Ashton Large we have some gun kids coming through. Yes, as you said, lots missing and would absolutely make a big difference. Great to see lots of locals mixed in with a few top imports like Larges etc. I'm sure they have big plans for Laifai and making him into a NRL player of the future.

Has it been said what injury Zaidas Muagututia has? Siebold said a few weeks ago he would get some time in the NRL trial against south’s

Gee our SG Ball team look under sized. Watching the SG Ball highlights vs Melbourne was not a pretty watch. Losing Zaida at hooker has hurt and while a few good individual players e.g. Large, we look outgunned.

Tough match-ups this week. HM vs first placed Bunnies and SG Ball vs 2nd placed Raiders.

I know it was only a trial but our Matts boys did beat them already. Hopefully, they can get that job done this weekend for points.

Good to see that Lawry has stayed on at the club, hopefully he makes the step up from Flegg to NSW Cup this season.

Thanks once again @Smokin Joe great to have all that background.
Such a lot of movement between clubs for the kids! I guess Manly has scouts all over the place (or maybe we just react to approaches from player managers?) Either way it shows how hard it is to make it through to an actual NRL squad.
Also i notice our S G Ball has Kayne Pua'avase, young brother of the forward we got from the Cows. Just another set of steak knives, or maybe the reason we went for his brother??!!
