I think we over rate our young talent we have some good solid first graders coming through but no champions.

I was expecting young koula or before him schuster to be a "star" with all the talk around the club and don't get me wrong they are solid but I have been underwhelmed you compare them (and our other young players) to the penrith kids, the cowboys kids hell even the broncos kids and I'm not overly impressed by ours.

We have no Jeremiah Nanai coming through. I see no Cobbo in our ranks or a Penisini or Suaalii.

Penrith they have Staines,May and Tago. My opinion our youngsters are over rated it started with Albert Hopoate who was going to be a star and continues imo. We have solid young players not stars. I see no Kosef,Menzies or Gartner coming through.

Humphreys is still not signed for next season (feel he will leave) so who is our next "star"? latu fainu I hope but time will tell I guess.
 
Koula has basically come from SG ball to a handfull of NSW cup games last year. He's been very good considering his inexperience.
Many would argue Schuster is already a star and is being spoken about as an option for State of Origin. Unlucky with injury, yes but a bloody good player.

No good having superstar backs if your forwards are getting dominated every game.

Yes, many would rate him as one of the two best ball playing forwards in the comp - the other being Yeo. At age 21 he has more in his bag of tricks than most players would ever dream about. He is a special talent.

This is a poor take. Those Penrith boys coming into an amazing system, a premiership-winning system with the best forward pack in the comp and the best halfback leading them around.

The broncos youngsters have taken 2-3 years to come out of the shell. Broncos just chucked all those youngsters all together at the same time without properly developing them and they ended up winning a WOODEN SPOON and being the bottom 4 for the last few years. Only now have they gotten more mature and have a strong halfback to lead them.

Schuster is obviously going to be a superstar, so is Tolu. Don't lie to yourself. Schuster was a top 3 rookie of the year candidate ffs. Tolu has been great as well, probably top 3 in the rookie class this year as well at the moment. Christian Tui as well. I understand people overreact after a heavy loss like what we had, but blaming the youngsters is wrong.

And not to mention , Broncos and Panthers have pretty good Juniors to pull from.

Leli SK, a member of manly’s Harold Matt’s premiership team a few years ago told his story on George Rose’s NITV show “feeding the scrum” this week.

Leli had a contract at manly after Harold Matt’s, but severely injured his leg in a motorbike crash, and he could no longer have a career in league. He is now a rapper. Big boy, we could have used him! But good luck to him.

There is a grain of truth in what you say. But I wouldn't underestimate the players. If no one is shining very brightly, the time may well not be right yet. Let him shine less brightly for now, but shine.

To an extent all fans overate their young stars, people have over the years been very strong on Hopoate, Stromquist, Tarrant, Birt, Pearsell, Groom, Charlie Taylor, Demetriou etc etc etc

So we certainly have a great bunch of young kids coming through but nobody is ever a certainty.

Now at the same token a clubs fans are also often much harsher on their own players as they live every small error or missed tackle.

I think this rings true in your summation of Schuster and Koula.

Other fans, players and pundits rave about these two.

Schuster was talked about to be in the extended Origin squad last year before injury. To have that in essentially your rookie year is huge.

In his....3?.....games this year he has looked our most dangerous player in all 3. That is coming of some leg injurys and not being at full match fitness.

Koula has done everything asked of him and more. A 19 old old kid looking so assured in first grade after about 10 games is rare....no doubts on Koula IMO.

Now Cobbo and Suali are rare breeds, but Penisini I'd have behind Koula as I definitely would Staines (who is overrated IMO)

Swap Koula and Tago or even May and I think you see Koula in a in form team crossing for fun whilst the panthers pair would be a littlemore dimmed.
 
Koula has done nothing wrong. But you expect a centre to score tries. Ten matches for a donut.

8 starts at centre.

I'm not worried at this stage, more a statistical anomaly.

Plus Olakau'atu has 6 which shows that he is often used as the option on that edge

Absolutely doing great. He would have a lot more tries on the board if Cherry / Haumole actually looked for him in attack and (heaven forbid) actually gave him some decent balls. Almost every time the kid gets the ball there are at least 2-3 defenders already on top of him. Bet that wont happen with Cherry on Wednesday night!!!
