Manly have re-signed winger Jorge Taufua. Market Watch can reveal the flyer has inked a new two-year-deal.

While a season-ending knee injury sidelined him early in the season, the Sea Eagles delivered on their promise to take care of the hard runner.

The 25-year-old made his first grade debut for the club in 2012 with his career on the beaches to continue until at least the end of 2019.

I think it’s a great show of faith in Jorge. He loves Manly and is certainly part of the culture. That culture seemed to really grow into something special this year. So maintaining this playing group can only nuture that.

Good.

Jorge may not be the quickest winger going around and sometimes he has suspect hands and we all know that under a bomb he is iffy at best. But after his injury we really saw what this team lost with him not out there. His runs from the back early in tackle counts are invaluable because of his strength and they take a LOT of pressure off the forwards, especially when they are starting to get gassed and take 2 or 3 tackles to get back downfield after a kick. And while he may have suspect hands in general play, when a try is on offer its like they are made of super glue, he rarely drops the ball in that situation.

And I honestly think Kelly will have a lot more confidence, especially in defence, with Jorge on his outside.

You know, no offence to Matty Wright because he always seems to be giving his all out there. But I said it at the end of 2016 after a similar situation saw him in first grade for a long period and I'll say it again at the end of 2017. He's an honest toiler and a decent goal kicker, but he's best used in first grade as an injury or Orign time fill in for 2-3 games at most and not someone we want to be relying on as a long term starter, even on the wing.

You can’t go from bad to worse on our left hand side.He & kelly better have a better understanding of each other’s game otherwise the opposition will be bombarding that side.

This year we went on a bit of a backwards slide when Jorge was injured. Glad to have him continue as a Mighty Sea Eagle.
On a side note, I love it when after a defensive spree, his hair comes loose and he looks like a wild man on the field.
Every team has to have their share of crazy hair.
Thanks Jorge.😀
