Let's assume they can. What could you do?

Pick team that will most likely get in the top 8. Spread some rumors and go on and on about losing 2 players will mean they have no hope. Tell the world that their internal drama spells doom and gloom. Watch the odds go down, place a healthy bet. Then sit back and watch the mighty team come flying in to the semis. Cash ..

Doubt journalists can think far enough ahead to come up with such a ruse.

Odds are not influenced by journo's they are influenced by weight of money

But the weight of money is influenced by journo's, who control the minds of the brainless masses and use subliminal mind tricks to force idiots to pick which team the journo's want them to pick.

Obi-wan Kenobi would have made a great sports journo. In the future.

Journalists are some of the most addicted betters around, particularly racing journos. They are usually broke and live from pay packet to pay packet.
