Yeah Josh has stood himself down in best interest of the team, has denied the allegations and seeking his own lawyer

Will be interesting what comes of this....always a fan of innocent till proven guilty, but find it strange to "step down" if there was not something more to it....
Just my opinion but I believe the decision has been made by the Dogs to stand him down to prevent an ongoing circus from enveloping with media scrambling for a headline as the team attempts to prepare for the game.

It has been purposefully revealed to the media that he has stood himself down to prevent the club from publicly appearing to have formed a judgement one way or the other as to his innocence or guilt.

I could be wrong and am no way commenting on his guilt or innocence, just that the club want to appear neutral, hence the ‘he stood himself down’ angle. I do believe they don’t want the drama distracting the club in the build up to the game, so they decided to get him away from training and the impending media scrum.

Stepping down screams I'm guilty here.
Plus going and doing your own test on a Monday will prove nothing as it is only detectable for 3 days using a fluid test.

He will be training ready for season 2025 at the Tigers in November, dogs haven't really been impressed with him.

Addo-Carr stands himself down from Bulldogs’ drought-breaking finals clash

Canterbury winger Josh Addo-Carr has volunteered to stand himself down from this weekend’s finals match against Manly.

Addo-Carr met with Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould on Tuesday morning where he decided it would be best for the team for him not to play and become a distraction in the lead-up to the club’s first finals match in eight years.

Gould held a meeting with coach Cameron Ciraldo and chairman Adam Driussi earlier on Tuesday and mulled the possibility of standing down the winger after his failed roadside drug test and questions over whether he had subsequently misled the club.

That decision was then taken out of the club’s hands when Addo-Carr elected to make himself unavailable for selection against the Sea Eagles.

“We want to put up a good showing for our first time in the finals [since 2016],” Gould said at a press conference on Tuesday. “We’ve got a big crowd coming; fans and supporters – there’ll be a lot disappointed that Josh isn’t playing.

He’s a very, very popular player in our club and with our fanbase, but in talking to Josh this morning he realised it was probably the right thing to do at the moment on behalf of the team and the club and I thank him for that.

“And I hope he’s proven innocent; I hope everything he’s telling me is one hundred per cent right.”

Gould would not be drawn on who would replace the former Origin star against the Sea Eagles on Sunday.

Addo-Carr was a notable absentee from the Bulldogs 2024 Awards Night on Monday, advised not to attend the event after allegedly returning a positive result to a roadside drug test on Friday night.

Police on Monday confirmed a 29-year-old male registered a positive reading to cocaine after he was stopped for a roadside test late on Friday night. A second test was sent off for further examination.

“About 10.45pm on Friday, officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were patrolling Baywater Drive, Wentworth Point, when they stopped a Toyota hatchback for random testing,” the police statement said.

“The driver – a 29-year-old man – was subject to roadside testing which allegedly returned a positive indication for cocaine. The sample has been sent for analysis.”

Addo-Carr, unavailable to play due to injury, was staying with his Bulldogs teammates at a Sydney Olympic Park hotel on Friday night and had left to pick up a phone charger, according to club sources.

Earlier, he watched the Roosters-Rabbitohs game at Accor Stadium with members of the coaching staff and teammates Matt Burton and Bronson Xerri. Club staff weren’t aware he’d left the hotel until the following morning.

Addo-Carr’s future at the Bulldogs is now under a cloud, with the club to investigate whether he also misled officials with his version of events. His contract still has another year to run, but he runs the risk of having it torn up if he has both lied to the club and tested positive to an illegal substance.

Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould provided an insight into what had transpired on 100% Footy on Monday night, admitting Addo-Carr had told the club about the roadside test but that his version of events didn’t tally with that of the police.

“The way it was reported to us [by Addo-Carr] Saturday morning felt that he was rather very dismissive of it,” Gould said. “That there was no drama, that he was, he hadn’t tested positive to anything and that they allowed him to drive home and sent him on his way … I’d kind of forgotten about it until he rang me this morning and said that there was some phone calls he got from players at other clubs, and his wife had got some phone calls that this was bubbling around.

“And then people in the media started to make some [calls] and I spoke to our chairman. I said, ‘I spoke to Josh about this over the weekend twice and his description of events is that we’ve got nothing to worry about and he’s got nothing to worry about’. But as it turns out, this afternoon, there are now conflicting reports from the police and the way they’ve described the events, which has led me now to sit down with Josh Addo-Carr and his manager face to face at 5 o’clock this afternoon to go through exactly how things unfolded and what’s happened.”

Urine detection is up to 4 days

Pretty strange if he was allowed to drive away after the initial test, as stated.
Anyhow, it won't decide the game, but it provides a distraction...

Not really. Leonards explanation makes sense

This bit... absolutely! If Josh is not cleared it could be a great chance for Dogs to 'enforce some standards in the club'. Translated this means ... Hey we don't need a marquee winger on huge money any more, but we sure could use some extra cash to buy a forward or 2, so, Bye Josh

Yep

Pretty strange if he was allowed to drive away after the initial test, as stated.
The drive with drug charge is not the same as DUI. There is no need to prove your driving ability was impaired. The cops obviously didn't think he was impaired, but the offence is made out simply by having the substance in your system while driving.

On the spot test was positive but faint. Coppers had the second test done and bagged..They were planning to repeat the on the spot test but were called to an emergency. That is why they let him go. Police can use discretion.

This suggests to me that he wasn’t high but instead had some low reading in his system.

When will the players learn.

The rinso goes in the washing not up the nose.

(I am not suggesting JAC is guilty of anything)
