South Sydney's Liam Knight and Storm prop Christian Welch are facing suspension over dangerous contact charges.

The NRL Match Review Committee announced four charges stemming from Saturday's matches, with Knight and Welch facing time on the sideline.

Knight will miss two matches if he pleads guilty to a grade 2 dangerous contact charge following an incident involving Manly captain Daly Cherry-Evans.

If he challenges the charge at the judiciary and loses he will miss three games.

Unless he beats a dangerous contact charge a the judiciary, Welch will miss one match following contact with Sharks prop Andrew Fifita in the 38th minute of the match at AAMI Park on Saturday night. An unsuccessful trip to the judiciary would also result in a one-week ban.

South Sydney forward Cameron Murray can avoid suspension with an early guilty plea for a 69th-minute tackle on Manly five-eighth Cade Cust while Sharks halfback Chad Townsend has been given a fine for a contrary conduct charge.

If Murray elects to challenge the charge and loses at the judiciary he will miss one match.

Those charges came a day after Newcastle prop James Gavet was charged by the NRL match review committee in relation to a late tackle on Canterbury's Chris Smith.

Gavet is facing a dangerous contact charge for his hit on Smith in the 62nd minute of the Bulldogs' come-from-behind 20-14 win at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Gavet was placed on report by referee Matt Cecchin and sent to the sin-bin.

He will avoid suspension if he takes an early plea and risks a one-match ban if he challenges the charge and is found guilty.

Funny how greenturd thinks consistency is overrated but we consistently get screwed over foul play.

Waddell gets 10 in the bin and a suspension however Knight got to stay on the field

JWH just head butted Maguire, goes on report but stays on the field

Didn’t AFB get set off and suspended

Fans, ‘experts’ and media all bang on about wanting consistency so where does greenturd get the idea that no-one rates consistency

Another week another stuff up and no one questions greenturd’s ability to do his job

Can you imagine if that was AFB or Marty who hit Reynolds and Walker like Knight and Murray hit DCE and Cust?

We wouldn't see them again until 2020.
And there you have it In a nutshell
Sunday footy show would have at least shown the tackles over 50 times and made our men to be brining the game into disrepute.
Souths players lets don’t even discuss anything nothing to see here.

I feel like burgess is the only player to receive a stern letter instead of a suspension.

Too little, too late.

Four officials on the field plus the bunker and no action, so much for the NRL cracking down on late hits.
Yes and they wonder why they are rightfully and mercilessly attacked ,they can make a knock on out of Cades try when it was stripped and re gathered by analysing it frame by frame and still get the wrong decision yet miss the most blatant of late dangerous and dog shots like knight on DCE ,12 eyes on that not one of those dopey c&$ts sees it .Unf@&&$ believable!!!
Greenberg u and ur officials and ur bunker a joke and everyone knows it !
The term “official” is right up on the same level as the term “journalist “

Mate I get all that and as frustrating as it is we beat both the rabbits and the refs by out scoring them on the field .

The 2 competition points were ours

We just did not close the sale .

We only improve if we take accountability for what we could have done better to close the game and there were many things we could have done better

We are a team in our first season under a new coach and we are learning with every game .

The refs will keep fcking up . They have been doing so since the beginning of time and nothing will change no matter how many of them we put on the field .

That’s because nobody needs further convincing.

Apart from his immediate family, everybody knows he is a smooth-talking empty vessel. The rugby league equivalent of Ted Knight’s character in the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Meanwhile, I wonder if Liam Gnat ever ponders what might have been when he looks at Jake? Noting they were once both seen as bright prospects at Manly.

The rugby league equivalent of Ted Knight’s character in the Mary Tyler Moore Show....... Classic LOL LOL

As a side note, Knight is doing well at Souths, good on him.

Was looking like his career was in the balance after abortive first grade stints at Manly, Roosters and Raiders.

Two of the worst refereeing performances i have seen in a long time have been against Manly in recent weeks against St George and Souths.

Dez should of made a bigger deal about it so it doesn't happen again this week. It is happening to much recently and not getting a fair go, some of the soft penalties against are killing us, not the opposition out playing us.

Just need the refs to give us a fair go.
