Joey Walsh

Brooksy and I are both sweating at the thought of him running the show

DCE seems to be checked out lately, but Brooks is not 'that guy'
Agree. He never has been. And that was the whole point of getting him here, where he didn't have to be "that guy" and could play his natural game. But someone is at least going to have to do an impersonation of a leader when Origin absences kick in.

In the absence of Turbo, Jurbo and DCE, I've seen the leadership of Rueben Garrick stand out the most.

But since Garrick isn't in the halves, it's not clear who will direct our attack around the park.

It looks bleak but, Brooks will probably partner Matterson or Arthur in the halves.. eesh!

I get the feeling Seibs has taken Walsh up to NQ to get him amongst the squad in preparation for the Origin period just like he took Hoppa to Vegas.
My bet is that he starts at 5/8 next week vs the Eels with Brooks moving halfback.

Possible but certainly suggests he's being fast tracked.

Just being in the squad for game day is something many youngsters are given a few goes at before actually getting a run. He's played very little footy this year.

Definitely good to see though.

This is a good shout, definitely played more of a 6 roll in reserve grade while Wakeham did majority of the kicking last week

Finally some people all they do is read stats. The only stat that matters is the one you quoted is Humphreys a world beater? no but he the team functions and wins more when he plays.

If Humphreys is good enough for bennett it say's it all whether others are sold on him or not.
and his defence is sound and can be hard hitting

Is that more worthwhile than actual game time in cup though?

If Walsh does play NRL this year, it will be a huge call.

He's played, what, a couple of games in the lower grades and one game in the reserves? Granted he looked good in the limited footage I have seen from those games, but the step up to the NRL will be huge. Either we're desperate or he's very highly thought of. Possibly both.

Given Talau and Humphreys both ended up being the halfback in DCE's absence, I think Walsh will go straight into the No.7 too. I don't think there needs to be a discussion about captain, as I don't think Turbo is being picked for Origin. I think Arthur will be on the bench in case he's having a shocker, but unlikely.

The good news is about this, is that the Eels will have only seen the same video on him that we have. Often with new spine players, there's some video on them from the lower grades. Walsh, instead, has the benefit of no one knowing how he plays. It might end up being better to debut him sooner rather than later, before they have a sample size of how he plays from video of NSW Cup.

So pretty sure DCE will get picked for Qld as Slater has no one else. Will JW get the #7 next Friday night or will Seib go with the safe option Arthur. Interesting that JW was in the 19 squad. I hope Seib gives the kid a go.

Big call all right for Walsh to be coming into consideration for a call up as a run on half or even bench spot .
Still , if it is coming down to options , looks like the only other consideration would be J A . as the game day 7
Gave Humphreys a go at 7 about mid season last tear , was a bit more ready then someone in Walsh 's present situation but guess that the coaching staff will take into account his general progress and adaptability at training drills and some limited game time to date
Definitely will be an interesting team naming on Tuesday afternoon and of course also depending on S O O selections
Would have to think again that D C E would be in the QL D squad somewhere
