Job for life for NRL player McKinnon

The NRL unveiled plans on Wednesday to provide a job for life for Newcastle player Alex McKinnon as part of a five-point plan to support him during his recovery from severe spinal injuries.

Fair call @anthonyb 1965...Just in this instance I'll reserve my comments for Alex, Richie and now Simon for the moment.

I also will stand corrected, but on the surface it simply isn't good enough. Every player in all NRL grades should be covered...certainly more than a one-off 60 grand. And I don't begrudge Alex one cent for his circumstance. At least the NRL and Newcastle are getting this one right.

The Player's Association seem lax in the extreme as far as Simon Dwyer goes ( still know too little about Richie's support?)

I remember the rap on Simon not that long ago, and a story or two about his recovery...and determination to play again...

Sadly, like Yow Yeh from Bronx, it's not looking meant to be...But the bottom-line is, they were disabled in their workplace, and should ALL be looked after no contest.

And Dwyer's ''manager'' sounds like less than a muppet, to say the least!

Dwyer's (maybe) previous manager was Gavin Orr. There is very little news about Dwyer since late 2011. Seems Gav was very supportive until the surgery failed to repair the damage.
