One of our all time greats. I wouldn't swap him for Slater, Smith, Thurston or Gallen. Close to the Best player in the game.
And yet the knumbnuts in commentary persist in calling him Lyons. My admiration for killer knows no bounds.
Based on what we have spent this year. I'd reckon he is worth $800k a season. It is inequity if he gets less.
Lyon is definitely in our best ever team by now. He must surely have pushed Michael O'Connor out of the line-up, with Ray Branighan hanging onto a spot in the 17. And he often saves his best for games against Brisbane. Remember that 2009 game up there when we were 2 from 8 and then won 22-20? He virtually won the game single-handedly with a swag of tries (3) and solid goalkicking. And Parker had an off day with the kicking on that occasion too....nyuk...nyuk...
