[Resurrected] James Roberts Released (now rehab)

I read the headline, and just assumed he must have been locked up for something, stood down by greenturd, and has now been 'released' on bail

But its worse - he has to move to Redfern?
The Block is long gone.
Redfern, like the rest of Sydney is a construction site of endless high rises 😎

Bennett is on 24x7 watch as Jimmy knows the local haunts and the posse are already gathering :nerd:

Forgive me - I have been out of Sydney for too long....

Redfern may have improved, but 'the burrow' will always house the finest of NRL supporters.

JAMES ROBERTS CHECKS INTO REHAB
South Sydney star James Roberts has checked into a rehabilitation facility

The NSW Origin centre admitted himself to a rehab clinic a fortnight ago after discussions with the club, the Rabbitohs confirmed to Fox Sports.

It’s his third visit to a rehabilitation facility. The Courier Mail reports that alcohol abuse is “not at the core of Roberts’ current situation”.

Time for Souffs to apply to the NRL for a medical dispensation.
To save on paperwork they can just re-use the forms for Ingliss and Burgess, with a simple name change.

So COVID-19 travel restrictions have limited his access to gak & the club have taken advantage of his resulting clarity of mind to convince him to try to kick the habit.

Good luck to him if he has a genuine problem & has admitted he does, otherwise it's just a complete waste of time & money.

at least he hasn't hurt anyone (as far as we know) and has admitted himself. Good luck to him with his recovery.
Of course he has hurt someone, but I agree good luck to him, for him, but also to those he otherwise hurts

Provided he has not been hurting anyone then this is a pretty brave thing to do

Cured! (or better..not sure of the phrasing).

South Sydney flyer James Roberts will check himself out of a northern beaches rehabilitation facility on Friday and has declared he wants to play in the showdown against the Sydney Roosters just seven days later.

Roberts has been training inside the facility over the past fortnight in preparation for the NRL’s resumption, and told his partner and mother of his two children, Anna Jovanovic, that he will be ‘‘ready physically and mentally’’ after receiving help to deal with his mental health issues.

‘‘The reason he decided to go to rehab was because of the absence rugby league left in his life when we had to go into isolation. You could just see he was lost.

‘‘He would just sit around, be in deep thought and you could see he didn’t want to do anything. He lost some of his drive. The whole not getting up for training, the social environment of being with the boys, the happiness that training gives and doing what always does – that was a big part that was missing. He just kept saying ‘I just want to play football’.’’

‘‘I think people get the wrong idea and automatically think, ‘Oh, he’s got a drug problem or he’s got a drinking problem’,’’ Jovanovic said. ‘‘It was none of that. It’s about mental health, and there’s no shame in that. People should be proud of him for making this step for himself and his family, and not misconstrue it with other things.

...I have no idea why people would just assume that JtJ has a drinking problem...

Why are people so unkind?...

[sarcasm]
