Jamal Fogarty

Great! this will help ensure we move on from the DCE saga in this season. I am fine with 3 years. No one knows if young Joey Walsh will develop into the half we would like him to be. Interestingly enough I believe he has only played 2 games for us this year in Jersey Flegg and has not played for us for quite a few weeks now. Hope to see more of him this year…

This signing has got me really excited. Maybe not as much natural talent as Chez but cheaper and probably more structured which should help out our middles. Not confirmed but will be interested to see if we have any options in our favour for the 3rd year. Think Fogarty has the ability to really help guide Walsh and Large into our futures.

Is it over, can I open my eyes. Does this make the backflip impossible
Nah, I’m hearing rumours brooks wants out and may be heading to the raiders in a swap deal for JF. DCE to stay as five eight. I’m also hearing rumours Penn has made a late bid to buy the new WA team and call it the West Coast Eagles. All sources are anonymous and purely in my head.

Is elite forward talent currently in there 20s to much to ask?

@double hoops - there are a few, subtle enquiries, underway with some young middle forwards both in Australia and NZ.

It is an area that the coaching staff are actually aware we need improvement in, so let's see how it plays out.

We've sealed the deal with Jamal Fogarty and I now expect, unfortunately, there to be some more anti-Manly rubbish in the coming weeks as a result of this signing and the "numerical comparisons" between what the media alleges Jamal will be paid and why Manly couldn't offer that same deal to DCE.

The Club has moved on, let's see if others can do the same.

So is it $2m over 3 years? So $650ish a year?

No, the whole deal is under $2m.

The third year is what sealed the deal, so the third year is at a slightly "reduced amount" but the overall deal is under $2m.

There are no options in favour of either party to rescind the contract in the third year, however, if it is mutually agreed upon, any contract can be terminated.

I wish Jamal all the best.

Now we need to correct the deficiencies in our forward pack.

Is that you coach Seibold?

Hasler won 2 premierships, Tooves 1 out of 3 but he should have won 3 if not for cheats and Orford won 40-0. DCE on the other hand was gifted a premiership by his teammates in his Rookie year and immediately screwed the club for money as soon as he won it. Then was the highest paid player in the NRL for 8 years in an era when Thurston, Smith, Slater, Inglis & Cronk all played and were on less money, let that sink in. DCE was payed way too much for what he delivered.
I don't think it will ever sit with me that he was better than toovey or hasler, for the main reason being they were in every game, always trying win lose or draw, and were guns in their own right.
Nothing needs to be said about toovey, and hasler was the guy to always spark something. Vautin said as much in his book whenever manly were down he'd tell des , mate, we need something from you here, and would always make full/half breaks triggering something, and neither shirked the defensive side.

Hasler was unlucky in reps, would always make city teams and did play origins and for aust, but was up against mortimer/sterlo and young bloke named Alexander. Still did well to earn his spot at times ahead of these players.

Toovey played in the era of alfy, Stuart and john's and still was a prominent fixture in rep footy, moving him to hooker at times cause he just had to be in the team

Dce has earnt his reps honours also, in saying that I feel it more so happened when the great players retired and he and Ben hunt were the last men standing.

I'd easily put him above Orford, I thought he was a little underwhelming for most of his time at manly.

Congratulations to the Recruitment boys. This is a very smart and astute buy given our circumstances and at really good value price. No disrespect to DCE but this guy is different in many respects. I think he will promote a different style of play and more of a team approach. Love to see him play behind those same forwards that smashed Penrith on Saturday. I think he would have a field day!!! .

Thanks for the info, as always.

Do you have any insight whether the focus in forward recruitment/development is on mobility?
